I know this question comes up every late summer, but I thought I would bring it up again. When does everyone go out there and scout and hang stands? Here in Minnesota, bow season starts in 45 days or so and I am getting the itch to look around. Usually I will have most of my stands hung by the first week in September. Just wondering what everyone else's plans are. Been shooting for a couple of week's....with a new string and cables on my bow it is driving tacks :D. Just trying to get everyone in the mood!!

I don't do much preseason scouting. I know the area I hunt real well and there are always deer there.
I don't really get into bowhunting until the trees start turning color. As I walk in the woods hunting I pay close attention to sign at that time.
The deer in the area I hunt seem to change patterns around early October, then again in December.

I will have all Stands set up for me to ease into by the end of Aug. All branches trimmed back, & shooting lanes cleared.

Now I know the boy over the Hill, has a feeder out on his land, its already feeding them, I cant get to close to the Property as it is very very thick. So im going to set up a few stands on the trails going to the Feeder's:D :D :D Since i cant bait where im at , Ill use his, LOL:D :D :p

Edited to Add- Feathermax is right ! The Deer do change patterns in Later Oct. Here & then again in The early days of Dec. Thats what they do in my area.;)

The deer here seem to switch patterns after a few good frosts. Early season seems to be good in the waning hours of sunlight only. The later you go into the season; the better it is at different times of the day. The deer feel more comfortable walking around when it is not 75 degrees out....of course I do too! Feathermax is right about early October being his fav. time to look for sign. It is a great time to be out in the woods. Just make sure that you don't overlook that early season; bucks seem to be vulnerable in the first couple of weeks before the "October lull". Thanks for the replies!! Keep them coming.

what october lull? all the october lull is when the acerns and persimmens start fallin, the deers start draggin ass to git to the fields and just eat acerns and persimmens THEN go to the fields for a little grass for dessert. during october just hunt over a bunch of acerns or persimens and see what you git.

I scout hard right after the season. I want to know what the deer will be doing the next year late in the season. Of course, I scout in the spring as well, just getting a lay of the land and understanding the rubs and terrain.

I have my stands hung i have had this lease for a few years but it seams the houses seem to be growing faster then the farmers corn and it has affected deer movement.
we have seen a couple good bucks i am hopeing to put my tag on one.
I hate to give up this lease but i might have to in a couple years i have to much houseing going up around me.
The wife says i should just quit leasing and buy some land.
