Well I've been waiting one since I was younger and I was planning in the spring to buy a sportsbike. So there has been a R6 that was local and it was for sale. The last 3 weeks I've been drowling over it :D. So last sunday I called the guy to check it out and talk to him about it and of course a test ride. Wow, thing is so sweet, handles real well and not to mention fast. So today (tuesday) I went over there on my lunch break for work and got it. Any of you ride sportsbikes on here? Here's couple photos of my new love. Sorry I don't have a pic with me on it, my camera took a dumb on me and my batteries went dead. So maybe tomorrow I'll have some with me or what not. Hope you enjoy :)

WoW, I forgot to mention it's an R6 made by Yamaha of course. Has 14.500 or so and it's an 01.

Has some ground effects on it which is pretty cool I thought. 2 neons on the front forks and 2 in back.

Looks Nice! Be careful and enjoy!

Oh and please wear your helmet, unless of course you are into becoming an organ donor. ;)

Of course. I don't think I would ride it without one unless I was in the yard moving it from our shed to the drive. I'll be safe on it. Guess my grandma isn't too pleased with me buying it:confused: . That's why I don't tell her what I buy, just like the dirtbike I had. She finally found out about that. Ahhh well, she's just trying to look out for me I guess.:) Thanks, I know my buddy's that seen it, like it. We're all going to have them in the spring time to ride which will be nice. Thanks again.;)

Guess I'll have to put some paddle tires on it eh?:D . I'll have to see if we're still going up to silver lake or what not. I haven't heard anything yet. I still need to get a new clutch perch and a clutch for my bike...

ok i got to ask

i have been planning on making a purchase like this but i am still in the planning stage.

i got some questons: if you don't want to answer them you don't have to

is that a 600?

"roughly" what did it set you back?

what is a good size bike for a first time rider?

Thanks

p. S. i am 24 and about 240 somewhat athletic pounds.

Thanks again

Yes it's a 600cc, I feel really confortable on this bike. A lot of people on the sportbike forums tell you to start off something like a 250 or 500cc. I think it's kinda pointless though IMO. If you're not dumb or do crazy stuff on a 600cc and warm up to see what's confortable, you should be fine. I'm 19, almost 20 and I'm around 185.

I'm not too sure what would be a good tire for someone starting off. I'm running some Dunops on mine. My front is a Dunlop D208F Sportmax 120/60 and my back is a D207J sportmax 180/55.

You'll get more information at www.r6messagenet.com Just search and you'll find all the information.

Hope that kinda helped

Hey 'Sniper, That is a cool ride, when you said you wanted one since you were young, I thought you were old like me. I bought a 900 Kawi when I was 19, because it was the fastest production bike built in '75. Your 600 would toast it easy I think. Elk hunting in 98 near Ouray CO I met a guy about 70 who took a Katana across Engineer Pass, it had some rock damage. He was going to paint the date and elavation on it, about 12000 I think, and the road is not anything more than a jeep trail.

Can ya strap a deer to that there back seat? What about a rifle rack on the front end? Good looking bike. Have fun and be careful.

fishdoggydog, You still have your 900 or did you sell it? Just was woundering.

krshunter, lol I can't do either but that's why I bought my silverado last year. This ride is to pick some ladys up :D

My camera isn't the best in the night. Ever since I took a swim in the river it never acted the same. Anyways, you can see the neons in that pic. Oooo

My Kawi went to my brother-in-law and he sold it to an exporter. A guy at the church I belong to has a 900 police bike, real nice collectors piece that is an ICBM missile over 6000 rpm.

Oh yeah...I've seen one of those. Just helped the owner pick up all the pieces out of the street after he dumped it big time! Just had the suspension tuned and was on his way home from the dealer when the front end dove while in a corner. Brand new bike... roasted. I saw him at the gun shop the other day come limping in. He's getting better and is using the extra insurance money to buy a gun instead! :p

Have fun but be careful. The highways aren't built like a SuperBike track.

Ouch, that would suck. I'm taking it easy and know my limits on this bike. How old was the guy who roasted that new bike? Hopefully he was wearing his gear and didn't get hurt too bad.

Mid to late 20's College student. He didn't have time to even put his hands out after while going over the bars. Head first onto the pavement. His brand new HJC Helmet without a doubt saved his life. Before he wasn't but now admittedly is a confirmed advocate of California's mandatory helmet law! ;) It was kind of weird stumbling onto to him as I came around a corner. First it was parts all over the road then some dude standing there in a daze. He was hurtin' but he just didn't know it yet!

SWEEEEET MACHINE.

GET READY TO HEAR A LOT OF "OH I DIDN'T SEE YOU'S" THOUGH.

OTHER DRIVERS "AUTOS", DON'T SEE ANYTHING SMALLER THAN A PETERBUILT. ALWAYS HAVE AN ESCAPE HOLE.

GOOD LUCK.

Nice bike V S couple of questions

do you have to take a test before owning/riding a motorbike in the usa ?
over here in uk we have to take a 2 part test well i did quite a few years back, first part was writen, and riding around some street cone`s, and the 2nd part was on the road,
back when i did mine we learned to ride on a 125cc for the test, and if you passed then it was what ever size you wanted,
and yes ive had a R6 and a R1 both stolen,
R6 handles the road a bit better than the R1
But the R1 can make you change you underware very quickly, lol:D

HAD TO LAUGH. I USED TO CARRY ROCKS IN MY FAIRING, NEVER HAD GUTS ENOUGH TO USE THEM THOUGH. MIGHT HAVE REALLY CAUSED A BIG ACCIDENT. I'M SELFISH, I DIDN'T WANT IT HAPPENING IN FRONT OF ME.
