I had a nice week in October for the PA ML season, but saw no deer. Tomorrow our rifle deer season opens and I will carry my .54 Renegade caplock afield. Who tagged a deer so far this year with a ML?

Not me....but our muzzleloading season hasn't started yet! Ours doesn't start until after the regular firearms season. This year it starts on the 11th of Dec.; I will be out for a couple of days (13th & 14th)....hopefully I will have some luck.
Gotcha!

This'n probably don't count - cuz it was shot with a flinter/roundball/goex load. As a matter of fact - some here would even question whether it is really dead! - being shot with such an inferior weapon.

Nice buck there Gotcha! An inferior gun...hell no! :) That's what it's all about, in my opinion anyway. As for me, I shot 2 doe during our Sept. muzzleloading season. Didn't see any bucks I wanted so I filled a couple doe tags. Shot the first at 18yds. that Sat. morning and shot the second one at 25yds. that evening. Life is good. :)

I didn't take one with a traditional MZ, though I did get my first deer with an inline opening day of our rifle season (we don't have a MZ eason in AB)
Gotcha!

I will pass along your comments to the shooter. He doesn't visit/post here anymore - but is a close friend.
I'm pretty sure he has been taking Deer & Elk with that ole Flinter for at least 30 years.

Gotcha!,
Nice photo; and yes that qualifies as a deer bagged with a muzzleloader per my initial post. I have several flinters and hunt with them as well as traditional caplocks. My favorite hunting arm is a .54 Hawken flinter that got several deer for me. Thanks for posting.

I cant get them with the rifle so far, but then again i would have to see one first, the only deer i did see get this.... (had the ML too) a 40 yard shot for me, i pointed the deer out to my cousin since he only ever got one deer in 8 yrs i let him shoot, he some how managed to miss with a scoped rifle at that distance, so come the muzzleloader season the hunting gods better smile upon me. oh and i got a new spot for the late season, im very excited about that, deer that are literally untouched by hunters
kt, congrats all

Fourth day of our gun deer season left work at 3:20 PM and got to my hunting land at 4:15. At 4:17 had a poor excuse for a 6 point dead. I walked along the inside of my fence to my ditch line, intending to walk along it to a stand at my marsh edge. The buck stood in the trail 40 yards down the ditch, let me get the gun up, and I shot him facing me, through the heart. If people wonder if it pays to get out for what would have been a twenty minute hunt, that deer was proof.

I got one, small spike with my ML.Deer wasn't that great but the shot was.Off hand, 80 yards, with my grandson watching.I wanted him to take the shot but he couldn't see the deer. Not bad with a CVA Bobcat(his rifle).

I shot a 5 point running at 35 yards this year with my ML. It is my second deer taken with a black powder rifle and I'm quite proud because I'm only 14 years old.
Congratulations Eider. Way to go! :)
