Hey Evan, couldn't find the info on the WSM's. Do you have a link?
Hard to believe they are dropping their SAUM calibers.

I guess Remington is at it again. They are so damn quick to drop calibers and rifles from production that they introduce. The 5mm Rem. comes to mind. A lot of people got burned on that one because they ceased production of ammo as well. The .222Rem. Mag.was still quite popular with varmint hunters when Remington axed it. Now the RSAUMs, it's a bit of a shame, and I feel for the shooters who bought one. Best wishes.

Far as I know it was a lot like Winchester's WSM's are. They were just Remington creations.

remington created the saum because the WSM is just a little to long for the model 7.
If you guys look at the rifles that were originaly chambered for the SAUM's you'll see they still exist. Remington did not drop them in the Model 7 lineup...as was said, the WSM are to long for the model 7. And since the WSM are far more popular to begin with, Remington did the right thing by offering them in the 700 line up.

I just went back to the Remington website. It looks like they've dropped the ADL line of rifles. I also don't see any left-handed models in the BDL model anymore, but some are in the CDL. It looks to me like the CDL is going to be a major component in the Remington line. I'm wondering what the plans are for the Classic.
Maybe Rocky will know. Best wishes.

Cal, Here is what is taking the place of the ADL..it's also available with a detachable Mag. Its the SPS now.

yes the adl and bdl recived nothing more than name change and an upgraded stock.
the bdl dm still exscists as a sps dm, the bdl stainless is still there.
the xcr though i think is new. some kinda nitrade stainless coating and cool over molded rubber grip on the stock.
yeah the mod 7 still has the saum calibers listed.
also notice the 7mm08 in the lv sf is gone, this was special run caliber in the rifle. i thought for sure the 260 or 243 would replace it or be added along side it. that rifle in 243 would make dandy light weigh carry deer rig. but with a decent sided barrel instead of pencil thin tube.

Since both Remington and Winchester were both developing the short rounds at the same time, I always wondered why they didn't join forces and bring out only one line. It was obvious both wouldn't survive and in today's climate gunmakers don't need to fritter away money. If I was in charge of either company I would have made overtures to pool resources and work together on the new type of cartridges. I guess some egos or shortsightedness prevented that.

yeah ohhwell
it was just remington wanting to be one up on winchester.
one good thing about the saum is that its case capicity is more freindly with samller bore bullets, 6mm 257 6.5mm its still over bore but not as much as the wsm case is.

highshooter, Remmy added the WSM's to some of the 700 series rifles (SPS and XCR). Not sure which rifles had the SAUM's dropped from their caliber selections. Hope that helps.

the saum is no longer offerd on the 700 action.
it is still offerd in the model 7 short action magnum rifle.
remington added the 270 and 300wsm to the 700 rifles, but left out the 7mmwsm for some reason. they didnt touch the wssm calibers at all wich is a good thing

I think putting 24" barrels on the SPS is a step in the right direction but am definitely not too happy about it not being available with wood stocks. I wonder if our firearm manufacturers are aware that some of us do not consider synthetics as something rare and wonderful. If you prefer synthetics that's wonderful, but many of us do not. It's like the companies are forcing them on us. Just one mans opinion. Best wishes.
