With the long awaited (and long overdue) death of the AWB, has there been any new legislation on "assault weapons"? I'm looking at buying a new upper for my Bushy and I'd like to know what I can and can't buy.

As long as its got a 16" overall length, have it :)
Ban is dead, Jim. You have have any number of flash hiders/bayo lugs you want.
AND you can slap it on a lower that collapses 19 ways to sunday!

I don't really care about the bayonet lug or the flash hider, I'm more concerned with the collapsable stock. Actually, I don't know why the bayo lugs or flash hiders were a big deal with the AWB: what difference does it make??? I can see the stocks cuz it makes them easier to hide, but a bayonet lug: who gives a crap? Anyway, I'll be getting a new upper and I'll probably get a new stock as well. I just want to make sure I'm not breaking any new laws. Isn't it funny that the only people who were affected by the AWB were law-abiding citizens?

You can buy stocks that are shorter than a collapsed stock and its perfectly legal...
They really didnt have a damned clue what in the hell they were doing. They just made a ban. And by God it ... worked? I dunno, the drive by bayonettings didnt really go down...
And Im not sure if the evil Assualt Rifle Gangs of the inner cities quit their night time raids against police since they didnt have flash hiders.
The whole ban was a joke. I proved this to my teacher, a liberal, and she told me "So it really didnt effect the lethality of guns, did it?"
Yay for truthfull information.

Just a quick reminder to double check your states laws about a firearm's OAL (Over All Length). Here in Michigan a rifle has to be at least 29" OAL w/at least a 16" barrel. A fellow shooter put together a "Para" sized FAL (.308) and it was just under 29" and now it's got to be fixed.
YMMV!! ;)
