I'll be buying another pistol in a couple months and was wondering how good Rossi is. I'm looking for a .357 mag with a 4 or 5 inch barrel to carry with me while I'm hunting for a backup. I've tried carrying my SBH, but with the 7 1/2" barrel it's just too much. I've already looked at Ruger, S&W, Taurus, etc., but Rossi has some really good prices, but I don't want to buy an inexpensive POS: I'd rather pay more for a gun I know is going to last than pay less for one that won't.

I have never handled the Rossi 44 MAg revolver. I felt uncomfortable firing a friends 22 revolver - so I didn't. The Rossi centerfire rifles make noises when shaken, so I would not shoot one of those either. A little extrapolation on my part would conclude that any Rossi firearm = POS

I've had one for about 8 years, and no problems to date. It's a model 971 with a 6" barrel. I'd buy another one without reservations. JMHO

I owned one for a short time. I had no problems with it, but I bought it as trade material, not as a keeper.

It shot well, and seemed fine to me. BTW, the newer Rossi guns are of MUCH better quality than the ones of 20 years ago. I wouldn't hesitate to own one, and it would make an ideal trail gun.

i got one a few months ago (about november) a 791 .357mag w/ 6" barrel and its a mechanically sound peice... no noise, and fires more accurate than I do... and the grip feels very comfortable in my hands.. so far not one bad thing to say about it

i had rossi 357, 2.5" barrel. the revolver rattled screws loose and i lost them. rossi wouldnt send me the parts i needed to put the thing back together. so i had the gunshop try and get the parts. rossi also didnt send them the needed parts.

it may have been fluke that the screws came loose, but theyre customer service was not. and is the one reason i will never have another rossi.

Customer service is one reason I'm looking at getting another Ruger. If Rossi's service is that crappy, I won't get one no matter how good their guns are.
