I'm with you Val.

Seems every time you hear about these buy back programs, break ins and gun thefts go up in surrounding areas prior to the day. Isn't it convienent, "we'll take any gun gun... no questions asked"

I hope that any of Us here would get together with friends and set up Our/Your own table outside of the "Buyback" and save any valuable guns from getting destroyed!

I can tell you of the various horror stories I've seen or heard. Garrands, 1903's, 1911's, and other "Old" guns that are sold when a loved one dies and "I just don't want it around anymore" is what the family's sentiment is. For the cost of a bag of food or set of shoes, Our firearm heritage is being destroyed.

BUY THEM BACK YOURSELF!

Maybe there is one worthwhile element to all this. I've heard that some of the weapons offered up in these buy back programs are really pitiful, actually dangerous to life and limb. Should you pass away and any of these weapons end up with a favorite nephew, cousin or such, someone could get hurt. It is indirectly a method of getting rid of them by destroying the gun. That aspect of the buy back program appeals to me. Otherwise, forget about it. What does irk hell out of me is that usually these buy back deals are "no questions asked" affairs. My government puts me through much misery and aggravation for a license (FAC) to buy a weapon, but will sanction an unlicensed persons getting rid of a weapon without even caring how it was obtained, or what crimes may have been commited with it. That's tough to take! Best wishes.

I have always wanted to take a few hundred bucks... and set up a booth outside a buy back and advertise more for something worth it.

I expext the the real treasures do not end up destroyed... that they end up at a policemans home, or traded off out of his squad car.

Actually you all have valid points and arguments...but the over-riding theme is and I quote from the horses mouth,,,its a free for all for break-ins looking for weapons...then they commit crimes with them...take them to the buy back on that week-end and the state tells us they are melted down.....now you take from that want you see fit.....but I aint standin in no line with a bunch of third worlders....and other questionable poor excuses for human beings...to make 25 bucks....it aint happenin for this southern girl..

Yeah it is gettin pretty stupid with all these idiots that think that a true gun collector or a hunter would give away their gun for food or even cash,.....

I saw a guy carring about 12 guns on day to one of those buy back things in Ohio,.
and he had some nice guns,....I asked if they were all his and he replied ,."nope",.they were donated by friends and friends of friends,.......he said he had more but wanted to make sure that he could bring them all in to get the cash.

I then asked him why were they donated,...he said his house caught on fire and he lost his,......so he was raising the money to replace his collection.

Now isn`t that a slap in the face,...you help out a jerk like that so he has something,.....it`s not good enough so he takes advantage of some charitable "Friends" and throws out their old stuff or donated stuff so he can have new.

I did get an attitude with the guy and asked him where he was from,...come to find out he was from Columbus ,Ohio,....on the southend,.......and he was from my old neighborhood. So I went to every house around where he said he was from and told his friends,....Let`s put it this way,...his friends and neighbors won`t be helping this jerk out ever again,......One neighbor told me that the jerk better have some insurance,......and a good fire proof gun safe,.....OUCH!!!
I guess I got someone a little ticked off,......Pay Backs a B@#%$& !!! LOL!

Wolvie,
Yeah it is gettin pretty stupid with all these idiots that think that a true gun collector or a hunter would give away their gun for food or even cash,..... The buyback I was refering to was held in the Southside of Syracuse. I doubt The city was targeting hunters, Colectors, or even legal gunowners.

Its the people who return the guns that are targeting hunters, Colectors, or even legal gunowners. ;)
