Fizzy Rem Oil

Went looking for a repacement for the little 1 oz bottle of Rem Oil that I carry in my cleaning and tools kit. $1.89 for an ounce. Right next to it, a spray can, $6.49 for 10 ounces.... $.65 per ounce, three times cheaper.

So, I still have the bottle, but it's empty. Simple. Refill it from the can. Works like a charm.

Fast forward about a week. Needed a few drops of oil. Opened the little bottle. Whoooosh! Rem Oil all over the bench, me laughing too hard to focus.

Whatever they use for propellant goes into solution in the oil, and stays there a long time. Even after the first whoosh, I could shake the bottle, and get another whoosh. Just not what I had expected. Rem Oil Soda anyone?

Reminds me of the time I bought a bottle of OceanSpraycherry drink to have with my brown-bag lunch. When I opened it, it fizzed.

I thought to myself, "Huh. Didn't know this was a carbonated drink." Then I tasted it...cherry wine. It had fermented in the bottle somehow, Not bad, either.

I had to laugh, because I was at a factory that absolutely forbids alcohol on the premises.

On the oil....I just got a sample bottle of a new gun oil at the SHOT Show. By Du-Lite, it's called Kwikseal. It's a wax-based lube with factory recommendations by outfits like Remington, Kimber, Ruger. T/C, Winchester, Dakota, Les Baer and lots more. Good stuff, and it comes in a pump can, not an aerosol.

Did I say "sample" bottle? This is a 14-oz can!

I'll have to look for that. Wax is a very good lubricant, and it would have the effect of protecting steel, long after the oil has evaporated.
