As I remember mine involved fishing, and pizza later that night along with a few movie rentals and some good friends. IE pretty tame by some folks standards, but I still had a blast way back when.

First of all congradulations and happy birthday. You really are taxing my memory on this one, I know I was in Korea and I probably was guarding some mountain pass. If I was back someplace probably at an NCO club seeing how much beer I could consume. Now don't even think about doing that. Just relax and do somethjing you really enjoy, like going shooting or something.

I know for mine we did some bar hopping.. all my friends were driving of course..

Have fun, and don't drink too much.. you want to remember it!!

Happy Birthday, IcePrincess.
I'm afraid my 19th birthday was so long ago, I can't remember what I did- probably hunted mastadons with a spear:D

When I turned 19 that was the legal drinking age in MN.

I stayed home on purpose and worked in the fields on dad's farm til well into the evening. I saw what happened to others who went out on their 19th birthday and wanted to avoid it. One guy had to go to the hospital to get his stomach pumped and almost died.

I'm no tea toatler but trust me, it is a head ache you can do without, and whatever you do, have a designated driver.

Hello IcePrincess,

I got engaged on my 19th. birthday, or as I like to think of it now, I went into debt on that day for the engagement ring. I haven't got out of debt since, and I'm now 68 years old. She remarried when ours went sour after about 10 years. Unfortunately she passed away a couple of years ago. I smiled when at the funeral home I noticed she still had that ring on her finger when she was buried. Maybe I wasn't so bad after all. Hope your birthday is pleasant and best wishes.

My 19th birthday? I can't talk about it, just that I was in Vietnam.

For my 19th birthday, I worked 12-9. My manager at the time said "Yeah I'm giving you your birthday off" but seeing as he and I loathed eachother, gave me the entire day for working. I was so mad...
But when I got home my sister-in-law had brought me the cutest Australian Shepherd/Black Lab pup I've ever seen...I named him Apollo and now he's my vicious attack dog...well, my best bud, how's that?

I went with friends who took me to every bar in the town, about 20 as I recall, I counted them later. I don't drink anything more than some wine at a holiday or wedding now,too many freinds died because of it, and saw it as a trap set for me. A fox doesn't put his foot in the trap if he knows it's there, and I am smarter than they are.

Yesterday..when I was 19..(yeah right) I had that there 1967 Olds w/ the 455 and some fishin poles..spent all nite at the river, drag racin crost the bridge, catfishin till the sun came up. Well..I reckon I dont set a very good example..things aint like they used to be in "good ole days"..so I reckon I would say to..do whatever ya like doin best. And take the time to look ahead and set some goals fer yerself. Even durin all that drag-racin, I still took the time to do that. Happy B-day youngun..you sure got a long way to slide Clyde. Live it up hun, cause it dont come around but once that's fer sure.

Congrats on the birthday. Never think you'll get there and then all of a sudden you're older...A lot older.
I was on Tan Son Nhut Airbase loading an airplane for deliveries. Miserable experience...but one I wouldn't trade anything for. Try to do something that really interests you. Getting drunk and howling is neat but frustrating..cause it ain't worth it. Try to do something that you will remember with your family. They'll remember it too!! Say hi to your mom for me. Just think of all the worry she and your father have put in over the years...just because of little ol you!:D :D You'll find out I betcha:eek:

ALTHOUGH I JUST CELEBRATED THE 49TH ANNIVERSARY OF MY 19TH BIRTHDAY GOD HAS BLESSED ME WITH THE ABILITY TO STILL REMEMBER IT.

I WENT TO WORK. MY WIFE AND I HAD TWO YOUNGIN'S BY THEN, AND THE INCONSIDERATE LITTLE TWIRPS REQUIRED SILLY THINGS LIKE HOUSING, FOOD, AND CLOTHES.

DID I MISS ANYTHING? NOT THAT I CAN RECOLLECT. NOW THE KIDS ARE TAKING CARE OF DAD. FAIR TRADE AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED. I WAS MARRIED TO MY HIGH SCHOOL SWEETHEART FOR 30 PLUS YEARS TILL SHE PASSED AWAY, IT WAS THE BEST 30 YEARS OF MY LIFE. VERY BORING BY TODAYS STANDARDS.

ONE THING PUZZLES ME TO THIS DAY. NEVER DID FIGURE OUT WHAT CAUSED ALL THOSE YOUNGINS'.

CELEBRATE SENSIBLY. YOU WON'T REGRET IT.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

BY THE WAY I HAVE GRANDCHILDREN OLDER THAN YOU AND I TELL THEM THE SAME THING.

I second the notion of behaving and not getting drunk on your 19th...that's what 21 is for. But, two years from now, look forward to self destruction - I know very few who resisted.
Anyways, happy birthday!

Vin,
In the Province of Ontario the legal drinking age is 19. In Alberta, Manitoma, Quebec its 18.

Whatever you do Ice Princese, have fun!:D :D :D

So Jack, that was you I seen on the other side of the field that day?...hunting.....I spent my 19th in the Army....Ice.....just enjoy the day and hope you have many more B days to follow. When 12..couldn't wait till 16th....when 16....looked for 21..then 25...I have to say I enjoy my years now but 26-29 I have to say were the greatest...next thing I knew...been a long time ago and wouldn't mind a chance to do it again....do the same way too..so make a memory every day....never know when you have to look back and say....yep...been there and done that....be proud of what you do.....enjoy peace of mind..it goes a long way...

Hello Ice Princess,

Sudbury in January, eh? May I suggest you take a trip down south to thaw out? I've only been to Sudbury once, and my everlasting impression was, "I'd never seen so much rock in my life." You've done some excellent work in modernizing your city. Now I'd suggest you guys whip out the paint brushes and paint all that rock a nice green colour. Enjoy you birthday. Best wishes.

That was almost 30 years ago, but if my memory isn't too faulty, I was getting ready for deer season.
My 16th birthday was just in time to let me learn to drive in the snow. Being born at the end of November always left me with something to do with snow or getting ready for it on my birthday. My 19th birthday doesn't stand out as spectacular, but neither does my 21st. I was old enough to drink alcohol legally then, but I'd been drinking long enough that it was no big deal. The older we get, the less our birthday aniversaries mean to us.
I was born in 1956. I'm 39 now.
My daughter's boyfriend is 38.
I guess I'll have to advance a few years soon.
My dad must be 49.
I guess he'll have to age a bit too.
All I can say is;
"Enjoy your youth while you can, then enjoy the youth of your kids."

;)
