I was in a gun shop today at lunch and saw a T/C Hawken .50 flintlock with a hang tag of $150. It looked to be in NRA excellent to mint condition. The stock was terrific and the brass a bit dull, but it was a sound gun. The was a slight boo-bbo on the exterior of the barrel. I asked Friend John (the shop owner) what he had to have for the rifle. He let it go for $100.
This evening, I cleaned the bore, cold blued the spot on the barrel, put linseed oil on the stock, polished the brass, replaced the frizzen and flint. She looks wonderful and all for $100. I did tell two other chaps who said they wanted a decent flintlock about the rifle. Since they could not or would not get it in gear, I bought it. All the best...
