Didn't work last time (crossed fingers). This one is actually an impromptu campsite. We were on our way up and ran into a blizzard half-way there. We figured we'd press on and see what the roads were like. If we got snowed in, well we were packed for a 5 night trip anyway so no worries there. We finally realized we weren't getting anywhere near the area we wanted so we pulled off the side and set up. The tent collapse twice during the night and once while we were having morning coffee:eek: . Good times.

I prefer camping in that kind of weather cuz nobody else is stupid enough to be out in it. The only problem is, my current camping/hunting/fishing buddy thinks he's too old for that kind of stuff.

That is actually my cousin's setup...nice to know people with good equipment. :) We were there elk hunting and was there 7 days. When we got there there was one other hunter/camper leaving and he said it had snowed about 12 inches the day before. We finished setting up our main tent at about 9:00pm and decided to set the cook tent up the next morning. In the middle of the night it started snowing very heavy so we got up and set the cook tent up so we wouldn't have to shovel again. It then proceeded to drop another 18 inches of snow on us over the next few days.

interestin,, I was up at Manizanita one time, east of San Diego, on the reservation with a horse group when the rain started, then it turned to snow and the wind really winded,, We had tent's blowin down, camper's rockin, Motor home's movin to put the back end into the wind, Couldn't stay and couldn't get out, Lucky for me I was in a tipi at the time and the wind just can't grab em, I had the stove goin and a LOT of company for a while, ( they don't know that at bout 3 am, we left the tipi and sat in the truck and watched the tipi to make sure it would stand up to the wind,, even put the stove out side for a while,, ) I have heard they will handle the wind, but this was the first time I got to test / sea it,, It make's life easier when you can handle the elements,,
