Not a bad way to spend the day for sure. I see you guys are as dry as we are. Going to be a bad year in this area .

Yeah Nulle, I'm thinking it's going to be another dry one. Had my son with me yesterday, and I was telling him the same thing. All the farm ponds are dry and no snow pack to help fill them. If we don't get some major rain this spring, we could be in serious straits.

Thanks "yote", but I thought it was more like "Who let the dogs out". :D

Hello Gents, I just thought I would drop in and take me a look see or two!

Hey, those dogs look like somebody is sure taking great care of them at the supper table.:D

Maybe I can get em to put a good word in for me come chow time hey. ;) ;)

Yeah Hi Ball, there's a couple things going on there, I've been working pretty much non-stop for the last 45 days and haven't got to exercise the dogs and I also found out that the wife has been making gravy for the dogs to eat while I was at work. So now the guy that got hurt at work is back so I can start getting the dogs out more often and I told the wife to quit feeding them gravy, maybe I can get some of the weight off them. Oh by the way me too.:D

GSPsonny03........I can sure tell ya in a heartbeat by golly, that gravy & biscuits will put the weight on just about anything that breaths. I put on some 22 extra pounds after elk season this year and trust me it is better for the dogs than the hunter.

I have my dogs in two separate compounds that are 4 acres in size and kennels inside of the both. This way they stay in very good shape and no need to road them near as much come hunt season. I also raised a bunch of pups together, both male & female, which has worked out just great.

And this here is my Daisy Mae..she's what you call a warfield red beagle..and very lil...12 1/2 inches tall she was.
Unfortunatley, she was stolen in Michigan while runnin a rabbit when we was huntin on public land. We found her collar in a ditch beside where you park your vehicles..and I never saw her again.
Just in case by the grace of god some of ya'll from MI might recognize her..she was stolen from Lapeer WMA in Lapeer MI about 3 yrs ago. There aint alot of folks who raise Warfield reds up north that I've ever seen..and esp. small ones. Those dogs are mostly a "Southern" dog..so she and possibly her pups would stand out like a cow in a chicken pen. And, of course, she would burn a rabbit up..I miss that dog with all my heart..I had her ever since she was 6 weeks old, she was 4 when she was stolen.
She was the sweetest and smartest dog I ever had.
I hope whoever stole her is at least takin good care of her..but like all my other dogs..they sure were happy to be back in Virginia..and I'm very sure she would be too.

Lilred,

Thanks for the compliment, I appreciate it. I must say though that them are some mighty fine looking dogs you have too. Are them the pups that you posted pics on just a few months ago? It doesn't seem like they should be that big yet, anyway beautiful dogs, and that little red one is a very handsome dog. I understand your loss, that would have been hard to take. Is that where you came up with your monicker? Anyway you need to post more pictures of your countryside down there, it's beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Ball,

Yeah, I wish that I had that much land to fence in and let the dogs run, but, alas the neighbors wouldn't take kindly to being fenced in for my enjoyment. It's a nice idea though.:D

Nice lookin dogs gsp and lilred. :D

I know what it's like to try and exercise yur dogs. My little girl takes mega exercise to keep her happy. During the summer we use the quad to run her and two hours of swimming every day, and during the winter the snow machine. If we didn't have the sled during the winter I'd be hard pressed to burn off even a little of her energy and keep her in decent shape.

Lilred,

If you posted that pic before I missed it, so glad you posted it again. I remember the pic when they were wee little critters, but not when they were that big.

icequeen,

Glad to see you, haven't seen you in a while. And thanks for the compliment. How's your dogs doing? Great I hope.

We're down to one, my old girl passed just before Christmas. :(

Cat is thriving, still growing a little too. She'll never get to the average size but she's plenty big enough. She's solid as a rock and I wish I could bottle her energy, I'd be a millionaire. lol

We're hoping to start back to regular training in another month or so, depending on the weather. :)

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate yur words.

I don't think I ever did post about it, was the week before Christmas and didn't want to put a damper on anyone else's holidays. :( Was a very different Christmas this year but I have to admit that having Cat around has made all the difference in the world.

Sam had a long healthy active life, she turned 14 Sept. 2004, and even up to the last week she was out playin with Cat and having fun now and then. It took all of us a couple weeks to get use to not having Sam around but I know she's up there playin with all her new friends, just waiting for Cat to show up so she can get her back for some of the pranks she pulled. :)
