I wish I carried a video camera while hunting at times. We use a 22-250 myself and my partner a 223 . We both make some pretty remarkable shots.I've made many a head shot out to 300 yards, but I've watched my partner take jacks running broadside at 250\300 yards on a wide open run.Even doubles.By the end of the season we had shot fifty jacks and nine out of ten were shot on the run.I love it and what great exersize, and what great pepperonies jacks make.

Does anybody hunt jack rabbits any more.I've seen more jacks in the past two years ,because of the banning of certain pestisides then all the years I've been hunting. We've had days that we've limited out and had seen as many as 200 just laying in thier digs. It's just incredible how fast they are making a comeback.

I would'nt know where to go in california.I would imagine in the desert anywhere a little cover could be found as well as around any water source ie; rivers, sloughs etc..Areas such as orchards and vinyards are suposed to attract jack rabbits, from what i've read.Around here they are all over you can walk in almost any type of field and put up jacks. We start hunting them once the snow is on the ground and the ditches freeze.Where did you used to hunt jacks, model 70.;)

not many deserts around here. there used to be some rolling hills/grasslands near my home but they put houses on them.

thats to bad much of our hunting spots are getting further away as houses are goimg up everywhere.but somentimes you just have to travel. do you see jacks when you do get out of town.when i was in calgary last summer i saw at least a dozen jacks right in the city i could'nt believe it.they looked like big tame rabbits and i was only there two days.white tail jacks i think thats whats out your way, as well as blacktailed. here we have european jacks.
