I checked one of my box traps on the way home from the fire house and to my surprise I had a #130 sow and 7 piglets. The even cooler thing is that there were 2 coon traps set and they both had a coon in them as well :D One of the smallest piglets got out. He was on top of the bunch and got his head out of the top row of the cattle panel and he was gone like the wind. He was the only one with stripes left on him.

Here are the 6 hogs in the getter and in the new(to me) cattle trailer before they went to my buddies holding pen. I traded these for some much needed bags of feed..

With over 2 million in the State, GOB, I don't think Hank is going to run out of hogs in his lifetime. :D

It sounds as if Texas has a hog problem just like Maryland has a Whitetail problem. However, we have absolutely no hogs around here.

Count your blessings, Fabs. Hogs have caused several million dollars in damage to agriculture to this state. That doesn't count state and city parks or other urban areas. The legislature just approved $500,000 for bounties on hogs.

Hogs root up the ground, tear up fences, eat anything they want - including fawns, goats, calves, etc. They are not predatory, but is they come upon one they won't hestitate to eat it.

The other day I talked to a hunter who said he bowhunts. He shoots blunts at hogs to run them off the feeders. I told him if he didn't shoot the hogs he was part of the problem. Sows can breed at 6 months and have 2 litters of 8-12 a year. There are no predators. Game officials say if a sow has 6 in her litter, 8 will survive.

Your hog problem sounds a lot worse than our whitetail problem. It sounds like there are enough hogs in Texas to feed all the hungry in Texas. They should allow a longer hunting season to see what happens. I wish we had some hogs here to hunt. Granted, I wouldn't want the hog problem.

Thats part of the problem fabs there is no closed season on them as it is, and we STILL cannot keep up. BUT people have gotten so gunshy about letting others trap/hunt their land. They want them off, but don't want the bad hunters on their property either.

Same problem here with Whitetails. If I had the time, I would start a business for whitetail removal.

I often considered gettin' bonded and doin' the same thing here with hogs, but then there is that time thing you mentioned.
