I fixed up one of the traps on the ranch I'm trapping on. It had a really poor trip wire mechanism and the door needed a little welding but I got it working pretty good as you can see in the pic below. There were a total of 19 hogs when I first arrived at the trap. 2 got out through the 4" squares in the trap and 1 was crushed by the sows in the "Getter". all but 2 of the piglets could get their heads and at least one leg through the 4" panel...Now thats a little pig..

I ended up with 15 hogs all together that were still alive. The sows were about 80# each but VERY Skinny  .. I saw about 30 hogs cross the road in front of me on the way to run my traps this am and the ranch owner came from the top section of the ranch and he said he saw more than 50 hogs run across the road in front of hime near the last protien feeder on the hill. There is no food for them right now. Well I mean there is not a lot. The corn feeders and protien feeders have been out of feed for about 3 weeks and the hogs sure are looking bad. I'm guessing with that many hogs to feed there is just not enough food in the wild for them. This makes the total so far at 36 hogs on this ranch that I have caught. I'm hoping to break the "100" mark before it gets toooo hot..Adios' for now...

Hey, Hank! This dry weather had the hogs looking for food, now! In the last few days, I went to check on my feeder. Hogs rutted up about a 75 yard by 50 yard area about 20 feet off the feeder. That is the first major sign of hogs (other than trapping) that we've seen on our place since we bought it 2 years ago.

We're hogging it Friday night!
