I'm trying out the Wildcat 169.5gr ULD RBBT HP bullets. These have more of an open tip than the Sierra Matchking or Speer Match bullets and should give better expansion. Only drawback I think is the case size of the 308Win and not pushing the bullet fast enought for true red mist.
Ive been getting 2700fps from VARGET and WLR primers with Winchester brass.
Wildcat Bullets also has a 130gr HP that should be devastating. Hornady's Vmax really wrecked 'em up.
The scope is a Leuopold 4.5-14x50LR mildot with Badger rings and 20MOA Base.
Not that a 308 really kicks much but the extra weight helps to dampen recoil and keep your sight picture.

HI ALLEN
THE PRIME USE FOR MY RIFLE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FOR SHOOTING F CLASS BUT I FIGURED A LITTLE PRACTICE ON VARMINTS COULDN'T HURT. IT WEIGHS 13#.
WHO IS WILDCAT BULLETS? I HAVEN'T HEARD OF THEM BEFORE. I ALSO WAS NOT AWARE THAT HONADY WAS PRODUCING A 130GR VMAX. THANKS FOR THE INFO.
HAVE YOU EVER USED VV-550 IN THE 308? I WAS READING AN ARTICLE IN ONE OF THE OLD HANDLOADER MAGAZINES WERE THIS GUY BUILT LOADS COMPARABLE TO HORNADY LIGHT MAG LOADS. HE WAS GETTING CLOSE TO 3K FPS WITH 165GR BULLETS. ONE OF THESE DAYS I HAVE TO DIG THAT BUGGER OUT OF THE LIBRARY AND RE-READ IT.
I HAVE A FEW 308 'S LOADED NOW TO TRY OUT, USING RL-15. THAT IS IF I CAN EVER GET OUT OF THE HOUSE.
IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A NICE RIG ALSO.
IF YOU CAN SHOOT ME A LINK FOR THE WILDCAT BULLETS I'D APPRECIATE IT.
WELL, KEEP IN TOUCH.

Here's a link for contact info: http://www.wildcatbullets.homestead.com/ContactUs.html
I've only used VARGET in my 308 after hearing how well it works and its temperature tolerance.

HEY BUD
THANKS FOR THE INFO. SEEN A COUPLE OF GOOD BULLETS IN THEIR OFFERINGS. I LIKE THE LOOKS OF THAT 52GR HP IN .224 ALSO. I'LL BET THAT WOULD WORK GOOD IN MY 22.250 AI.
AGAIN, THANKS FOR THE INFO.
