Is anybody familiar with these two guns? I am thinking about buying a new handgun and was initially looking at the 92FS and 92FS Vertec, but ran across these two guns in the Beretta catalog. They seem to come with a lot of features that I like, but I am wondering what owners/shooters of them think about them since they are pretty pricey.

Do you mean 92G Elite II and 96G Elite II? I'm not familar with "SD". The Elite series has a stainless slide.
I have a 92FS and a 96 stainless. Great shooters!! The only changes I've made on both pistols has been adjustable rear sights.

I took a look at the web site and it looks to me that the "G-SD" designation is essentially a 92/96 FS with a light rail and tritium sights. I couldn't tell if there were any other differences than that.
My hypothesis would be that it's a good gun just like the other models. I have always liked them and had nearly bought one on a couple of occasions but they are just a little bulky for my taste. I really enjoy my little 84F though, it's the baby version of the 92F chambered in .380 with a double stack 13 rd magazine.

If they are both in 9MM....I'll just keep on keepin on with my ol Gummit models. just like the 45 better by far. Easier to reload for too.:D

Muledeer,
I was going to mention that the 96 is .40 S&W, but you beat me to it. That is the one I am leaning toward because I already have a HK USP Compact in 9mm.
The 96G-SD is a cross between the Elite IA and the Elite II. It has the heavier slide, it doesn't have a safety, merely a decocker, it has the accessory rail like the Elite IA but it has the grips of the Elite II. The one thing it doesn't have that the Elites do is the skelotonized hammer. I'll have to go and look at it before I decide to buy it, but I am really leaning toward it right now. Maybe I'll make it my wedding present to myself. LOL
