This year has been extremely slow for us so far. We managed to call in quite a few birds during the youth season (the 2 days prior to the regular season) but nothing since then. The birds have been extremely quiet, and pretty much all henned up. Hopefully things will improve in the last two weekends of season. Anyone else having difficulties so far?

Been hearing the same story over and over here in NW PA. Not too many birds talking.
I haven't got to get out yet, but I don't get too excited until all the other yahoo's are out of the woods and the hens start going to the nest. Give it a couple weeks and then it'll be a different story!

Well, season is officially over here in Ohio. I ended up shooting a jake on friday about 11 am after 5 hours of futility (no birds talking up to that point). We hunted all morning saturday, and didn't so much as hear one gobble on the property. We did manage to call in a couple of coyotes, but they saw us about 20 yards out of reasonable shotgun range and split. This is easily the worst season I've seen so far. The birds were extremely call-shy, and IF they were gobbling before we tried to call 'em, they weren't after we started. Just got lucky and stubled onto a group of jakes as we were working out on friday. Hope all of you have a better season than I did (although I was thrilled to get a bird).

I just returned from 2 days of turkey hunting in western NY state.
As other places, a very tough year. No gobbling.
Saw plenty of sign in the woods- the birds are there, but they sure aren't talking.

Same story here in Indiana for the guys I hunt with.
Very little gobbling and few sightings.
Our Season started later this year, April 27 and ended May 15.
Me and a buddy were lucky enough to each get a real nice gobbler each in Kentucky April 15 and 16 but it was the same story there. Birds were very quiet.
Guess we can hope for a better year in 2006.
