Lilred

I was comin home from work today..on the 4 lane..2 vehicles decide to both go 50, one in the left lane and the other in the right both runnin side-by-side and neither one of em movin. And who was in front of Lilred?? Preytell..it was some high-falootin woman in her SUV doin her hair..now..THAT in itself riles me up. But the worse part is..you KNOW that her SUV aint never hit a dirt road, much less anything to waller yer truck in..so why buy the dam thing?? Can somebody explain WHY you would buy a 40,000$ vehicle..and never USE it?? I aint never in all my born days ever seen the likes of such..
Ok..I'm gittin off track here.. anyways..she would not move iffin it saved her life! Well ya know..some people dont ride around all day watchin their mobile TV and callin their onstar fer directions to the nearest friggin bathroom...they are doin what ya call.....workin...*gasp* and they wanna git the hell home fore midnite!
Still off track..sorry..so neither one of em would move over..and I was so mad that smoke was comin out my ears. I figgered..iffin she wont gonna move..that maybe a mean face and a bumper fulla Chevy would make her move. That aint werk either..she wont payin nary a bit of attention. The dam world coulda been blown to smithereens and that poor fool wouldnt notice a dam thing. She FINALLY turned off, and I shot outta there like a bullet from a gun, and in doin so, I kinda goofed. I passed this (yep, another dammed SUV) with this bumper sticker that said "Wildlife...give em a brake!"
Freinds..I was seein red...what in God's name does THAT supposed to mean?? There was smaller writin under it, but to be honest..I blew by em to fast to get a good look at the small print, but I did glance over only to see another prissy woman drivin.
But..what is that supposed to mean?? Give em a brake...yeah..like we dont hit the brakes when we see an animal in the road. We try to hit em! Just mow em all down..we'll divvy out the dog tenderloin and possum legs later.
Iffin one of ya'll would kindly explain that to me I would appreciatte it..just seems like some stupid PETA thing to me. Maybe I'm wrong...
I'm still riled up over the truck/suv thing lol  :D

The same reason they buy $l,000.00 blue jeans, $2,000.00 purses and $20,000.00 boobs.

I'll stay away from the tax deduction that small business owners can get on them and go straight to the psych.
These women buy these huge SUV's because they want to keep up with the Jones's next door. They don't want to drive the cheap $25,000 station wagon. They want to drive the $50,000 SUV. Around where I live there are plenty of them and I see a good amount of Ford Excursion Turbo Diesels being driven by these women that are all dressed up. Same goes for a lot of guys too. There are a lot of them that will never use the thing, and I know plenty of people that fall in this category.

It means never shoot wildlife without a muzzle brake because you con't accurately see the bullet strike without one..........
I think the small print says "red mist rules!"

The small print is, “The Humane Society of the United States”, I see them around here all the time. And yes a lot of them are on new SUV’s. There are also a few on old rust bucket junkers.
If you go to their web site they have all kinds of useless info on how to save the animals, not run over them and how to help them if you do hit one.
What bothers me about all of this is that they are going to run off the road or cross into the on coming traffic to avoid an animal. If they go off road they run the risk of getting stuck in a ditch, hitting a tree or a parked car. Even worse they might hit someone walking nearby. If they cross the middle line that can be a HUGH desasiter.
If the animal is smaller then a cow or horse and I cant slow or stop in time, and not cause a wreck behind me, the critter is a goner.

It`s not just the hair fixin` that slows `em down and has their attention. If you were a little higher up ( a Peterbuilt maybe)you`d have seen a "Big Gulp" drink in her lap a Wendys salad in her other hand and noticed she was talking to her girl friend on a "hands free" phone. I once saw a nut case with the morning paper spread over the dashboard reading, at 5;30 am, had the dome light on running 75mph on the freeway taking two lanes. She likely bought the SUV because somewhere she read they were "safer" then a normal sized vehical in a accident. Of course avoiding that accident wasn`t mentioned. Then there`s always the guy that runs 70 mph in 18" of snow on top of a freezing rain and knows he`s safe cause he`s got 4 wheel drive, anti loc breaks and a hemi under the hood. Give him a beer and he`ll run 85.
The companies are playing right along with this BS. Why do we need a DVD player in a car? How do you play "games" on the built in play station while driving? Dash mounted GPS? Pay attention to your driving and you`ll know where you are. Then there`s the rear view cameras and alarms for those that can`t back the big things up with out running spot or the kids bike over. Half these people need sensors on their wheels to tell them thay have a flat.
I commute 50+ mi both ways daily and this bull really raises my short hairs just thinking about it!!
Now , then again, maybe it`s just natural selection in action and we don`t reconize it...:D :D
edited to add:
Sorry guys. My first post and start off ranting. I`ll be good just watch and see. I`m not really this way all the time. I just haven`t been in the bush for a while, the tensions getting to me........road rage, ya I see how it could happen:eek:

Ol' Joe,
Welcome aboard and almost any first post is better than no post at all.
If I get started about driving around here in the Washington, DC area, I could go on forever. One thing I do notice is that there is a difference between driving my F-350 Crew Cab and driving my Taurus. If I am driving the Taurus, people pay almost no attention to what I intend to do through my signalling. If I signal that I am going to change lanes, the guy two lanes over will just pull into where I want to go without even putting on his signal.
Yesterday I was driving my truck on the highway at 65 mph and put the left turn signal on to perform a lane change, let it blink about three times and then looked over to check out the blind spot. At that moment, a Scion pulled up two lanes over to the left with his right turn signal on. The driver and I looked at each other, and I started to pull into the lane. He didn't try to beat me there. Instead, he hit the brakes and pulled in behind me.
When I put the turn signal on in the Taurus, people behind me in the lane I want to merge into will hit the accelerator to try and close down the gap so I cannot get in. When I put the turn signal on in the truck they back off and leave a huge gap for me. If I could afford to pay for all the gas, I would drive the truck or an Excursion all the time.
As far as seeing people read while driving, I have seen people reading the newspaper with it sprawled across the steering wheel at 75 mph on I-95 north between Washington, DC and Baltimore and I have seen the same thing done with a book.
People think they can multi-task in the car while driving just like they multi-task in the office on the computer. Big mistake.
Okay, I am going to leave my driving rant for the night because I still have work to do.
It should definitely be on the law books and illegal and heavily fined for anyone in the left lane who ain't passing, period. And along with that, passing on the right is illegal regardless of how many lanes there are.
'Fraid she wouldn't last long on the Autobahn, I'd give her about 30 seconds before a Merc or Beamer literally blew her off the road or done ran her over ;-)
Yes, they almost need air spoilers to keep em on the 'bahn over here without flying, but it is actually quite disciplined, and as long as nobody does anything stupid, the traffic moves fine.
I wish it were that way in USA. The one big difference I can see is that if there is a speed limit of 65mph on the interstate, and you are in the left doing 65, you could say, well, you ain't supposed to be speeding anyway so you can just stay right behind me there. Whereas over here, the sky's the limit on speed, so you gotta keep right unless you are passing. It's is absolutely amazing to pull out to pass when the nearest vehicle is just a speck in the rear view mirror and then watch it grow so fast that before you can pass it's 2 foot off your rear bumper @ 90mph. Hang on baby, Waidmannsheil, Dom.
And Joe, welcome to HC -- I know you've seen it all with a 100 mile daily commute.

At least around my neck of the woods, it seems that the far left highway lanes that used to be the "fast" lanes have become the pokey lanes. I see it on more and more of our expressways now and I am becoming convinced that these "pokey people" evoke more road rage and violent driving habits among other drivers than the traditional speeding and weaving types.
I watched a woman on the local news being extricated from (I'm not making this stuff up folks-honest) between a semi cab and trailer because she hit the brakes to avoid hitting a skunk of the tollway. At first glance, I couldn't even tell that there was an automobile wedged between the opening until the news announcer pointed it out. Miraculously, I believe that the woman was in stable medical condition.
Ironically, the poor skunk got splattered to smithereenies by another car trying to avoid mad woman that got a close-up and personal look at this passing semi.

Your are 100% spot on my friend and that is why a middle class workin man can't afford a decent 4 x 4 pickup or SUV to haul the Family in anymore. Damn 4x4 truck with a back seat for the kids and enough motor to pull a camper is at $40,000 because the well to do snobs buy them and make them a fashion/Status symbol and drove the price up (supply and demand).
I remember my first time experiencing this kind of mess. Years ago when I first started workin and went to buy a pair of work boots. the same pair of workboots that I had bought the year before had almost doubled in price.... Know why? because a bunch of women that year started wearing them as a fashionable item. They went from being work boots to a fashion statement and everyone that sold them jacked the dang price sky high because the "fashionable people" wearing them would pay it. Thus leaving the poor working slob (myself) wearing worn out last years boots because I wasn't about to spend that much on a pair of "work boots"
I musta griped at a dozen female in the next week or so when I seen them wearing work boots with their Jordace Jeans. They were like "what is your problem" I told them my problem is last year I paid $20 for those same workboots, This year because you think it is a cute fashion statement they are goign to cost me $40.

Holy Crap This is a true story. I went to the parking lot about a year ago and seen a woman pulling out of the lot with a flat tire. I am not talking low I am talking FLAT within 1 inch of the rim.
I ran to try to catch her at the stop sign but she pulled out and I went on about my business. Well 2 days later I ran into the lady outside at work. I said, I guess you got your flat tire fixed? Huh what flat tire. I asked her (to make sure it was her SUV) don't you drive a green SUV Blah blah blah,.... Yep sure do. well you had a flat tire day before yesterday when you were leaving you better check it and have it looked at.
Sure enough the next day when I seen her again she told me that she got the flat fixed. She had driven 25+ miles home, back to work , home and back to work and never knew the tire was flat. All with her kid in the car
Kinda skeery ifn' ya ask me

DMM,
Start sportin' some steel toe Redwings and you won't have those sorts of problems!:D :D (Then come to think of it, if those things doubled in price...sheesh-they're expensive now. On second thought...:D )
BTW-Little Red, my personal fave (while we're on the subject) is getting behind the professional lady folk during my morning commute that are using them spooky looking eyeball plucker-outers (I think they're lash curly thingamabob doohickies) Anyhoo, they've got their darn faces plastered so dam close to the underside of their drivers vanity mirrors, how in the heck can they be looking at the road at all, doing a cool 75 mind you.
The best part is when they're done inserting their eyeball back into the socket and you see em seep back into their seats and then give a looksie in the rear view and I give em a big "OKAY" sign through my trucks windshield.
Then there's the feller that likes to get that electric shaver going good inder the chin while they're staring up at the headliner...:D :D
Oh boy, don't even get me going. I'm just getting warmed up.
