Hey guys, checked in on Monday and got home last night...any of you spent any time in the hospital lately? Wish I had a video...want to know why healthcare has shortages? They have nurses who wont perform certain duties...one girl who takes your blood pressure and temp...chances are, doesnt speak English...one girl who cleans your room, if you want to call it that...doesnt speak English and works on a turtles schedule while watching your TV...one girl who ask in broken English...on a scale of 1 to 10 how is your pain today? One girl who comes into your room and bitches and moans for thirty minutes on how much work she has to do.....She is from Trinidad or some such island, I still dont know what she did? Three girls who do nothing but deliver food , one girl who takes your food order. Now we get to the nurses.....seems the only thing they really get a kick out of is telling you they arent happy with your IV and may need to re-insert it....you can see their mouth water on that one....Oh they speak perfect English.....

Val, sorry to hear about your stay, but glad you're out now. Staying in a hospital is a great incentive to get well, so you can get the he!! out of there.

WONDERED WHY WE HAVEN'T HEARD FROM YOU LATELY. GLAD YOU ARE BACK IN RUNNING ORDER.

YES THERE IS A LANGUAGE BARRIER IN THE MEDICAL PROFESSION. EVEN MY DOCTORS DIDN'T SPEAK ENGLISH. I JUST ASKED FOR A WRITTEN REPORT. SOLVED THAT LITTLE PROBLEM.

I HAVE LESS THAN PERFECT HEARING ANYWAY, SO I BLAME IT ON THAT. IT IS DIFFICULT FOR ME TO UNDERSTAND ANY ONE SPEAKING CHINESE OR INDIAN AND UNDERSTAND MORE THAN A FEW WORDS THAT THEY SPEAK.

ONE THING THAT CONCERNS ME ABOUT HOSPITALS IS, SANITATION. THESE PEOPLE GO FROM PATIENT TO PATIENT AND NEVER WASH THEIR HANDS. AND PEOPLE THAT GO TO THE BATHROOM AND NEVER WASH THEIR HANDS IS ANOTHER SORE SPOT. MOST PEOPLE ARE A BUNCH OF PIGS.

I WOULD VENTURE TO SAY NULLE'S DOG KENNEL IS CLEANER THAN SOME HOSPITALS. I TRY TO STAY AWAY FROM DOCTORS AND HOSPITALS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. AND I ABSOLUTELY DESPISE WAITING ROOMS. GOD ONLY KNOWS WHAT IS FLOATING AROUND IN THERE.

HOPE YOU ARE BETTER AND WATCH YOUR P'S AND Q'S. AND DON'T TAKE ANY LOOONG LEAVES OF ABSENCE AGAIN. WE MISSED YOU.

You guys are precious...thanks for the well wishes.....everything is gonna be great.....plus I am 8 days smoke free...now that dont mean much to you non-smokers.....but its my first try and they treat you like a red-headed stepchild if you smoke...plus I have one doctor who flat refuses to treat me if I smoke...so there you go...the perfect time to quit and be done with it.....after all the prilims prior to surgery they pretty much get to know ya....I had test I didnt even know existed....bottom line.....I am in perfect medical health other than the smoking......so wish me luck...Its very tough.....I have almost folded about 4 times...but talked myself thru it....

Val: Sorry to hear about your troubles. I was wondering why you hadn't been on in a while, was starting to get worried. I know what you're talking about in quitting smoking. Thats definitly a tough one. I quit almost ten years ago, and every once in a while I still get the craving. Well I hope the best for you. And if you need help, the patch does work, or at least it helped me. Good luck.

You can do it hon!!! I quit cold turkey years ago and although it was hard at the time, I am very thankful that I did. It truly is mind over matter. You'll be simply amazed at how much better your sense of smell will become. I have been able to literally smell bucks on occassion in my hunting area during the rut...something that I never ever did when I smoked. We're rootin' for ya! ;)

Val,

Sorry to hear about the hospital stay. I posted a couple of things on here that were right up your ally (i.e., to bug the hell out of you) and even had one subject line as your name, but never received a post at all. I thought you were mad at me, but I guess it was worse, you were actually in the hospital.

Well, I hope you are feeling great and that you can kick the habit for longer than 8 days.

Quitting smoking is no fun... but it's worth it. Hang on! Glad you're out of the hospital.

As for my medical care, I have have that problem temporarily solved. My basement is effectively a separate, large apartment, and my son and his family are camped there while he gets his medical practice up and running... takes very good care of my wife and me.

I find the problems in Canadian hospitals is slightly different, even in Quebec where we have to cope in two languages. The nurses are mostly pretty sharp and know their stuff. The problem is their reluctance to tell the patients anything. It's no better with the doctors making their daily rounds. One day, as if by magic, they pop up and say, "Well, going home today, eh?" Thanks a hell of a lot for telling me! I was in for 3 months recently with a stroke, and the best thing besides being alive is I lost 25lbs. on their food, and didn't catch any life threatening viruses while there. Hospitals have really put the thrill back into being sick. Best wishes.
