Jack,
The best buy on the market today is the Hakko 2PT80B (80MM) with the SPE3Z adjustible eyepiece (22-66x). The rig's MSRP is $325.00
Champion's Choice carries them under the Champion's Choice name with a number of CC8045Z in their new 2005 catalog at $300.

Hakko and Kowa are trading partners. The scopes are very similar in optic quality, with the Hakko at less than half the price of a Kowa, yes there are deals out there, why? Hakko is trying to get into the high end spotter market. Every dealer I know wants one of the scopes, right up front. When they get it in, the entire staff then wants one.
You can see a nail head, clearly, in a metal roof at 457 yards. That is the distance across a 4 lane, a field and a parking lot to a church, from the dealer's show room in Pensacola.

I just picked up a 15 to 30 Leupold. The reason I got it is because at the last bench Rest shot at our club I looked through every spotting scope that the bench Rest shooters was useing. There were several that were just as clear as the Leupold and one other that was as bright, BUT, with all of the others you could see 1 targret well and with the Leupold you could see 2 targrets. It had over twiced the field of view as the others, at the same power setting. I think I gave $ 369 for it at Cables in W. Va. Not cheap, but worth every penny for a hunting scope.

Well,today my spotting scope arrived.
The one I ended up choosing was the
Burris Landmark 20x-60x-80mm.It seems like a nice scope.I'll be trying it soon.
