So about 5 days ago I graduated from the public school systems with flying colors. Man, that was awesome, ended with a 3.81 GPA.

So now Im totally done with highschool, which I must say is a weird feeling after 12 years of going. Oh well, off to college in a while.

Then today, well I turn 18. No more begging for parents to sign for my guns! WOOOO... (well okay so I still need them for pistols)

Im getting old too fast:p

Congrats, Ich. Don't forget to register for the Selective Service.

You could do worse than to consider a term in the military, too. Unless you plan to take ROTC and become an officer, that is. That's what I did - a long time ago.

Congrats Ich. Thats a big day in anyones life. Good luck on everything you do.

I sure wish I could do it again from that point..... :D

Rocky, I agree with you. My cousin graduated a couple years ago and didnt know what to do. He had won state 3 years in a row in welding competition and decided on trade school for that.

I begged him to go to the Navy. With the training he could have recieved there, and the schooling after, he could have written his own checks.....

CONGRATS ICH

JUST A WORD OF WARNING. DON'T THINK, I' VE GOT THE REST OF MY LIFE TO DO THIS OR THAT. TIME PASSES VERY QUICKLY.

ASK ME. I'LL BE ATTENDING MY CLASS 50TH REUNION THIS SEPTEMBER.

SET YOUR GOALS AND HANG ON TO THEM LIKE A PIT BULL WITH A SOUP BONE. IT IS VERY EASY TO HAVE PLANS UPSET, AND YOU SAY TO YOURSELF, "WELL I'LL DO IT LATER." LET ME TELL YOU "LATER" COMES SOONER THAN YOU THINK, AND THEIR YOU STAND IN THE DUST CLOUD SAYING TO YOURSELF, WHAT HAPPENED.

CONTROL YOUR OWN DESTINY.

MAY THE SUN ALWAYS SHINE ON YOUR FACE, AND THE WIND BE ALWAYS AT YOUR BACK.

GOOD FORTUNE IN YOUR LIFE.

Oh Billy, you are so right.

The only thing I saw of "later" was its dust, and I was choking on it. Later had long passed me by.

3.81 GPA and didn't get arrested or killed in a traffic accident graduation night. Outstanding.

Seriously, congratulations. If your instincts tell you that staying in the area where you grew up is a good idea, don't let anyone pressure you into believing that's not a wise course of action. My career took me all over the U.S. and a portion of the world. It was the right thing for me and I have no regrets. Some of my buddies stayed at home and married their high school sweethearts. I'd say most of them are at least as comfortable with that decision as I am with mine.

ROCKY, LATER?

I FINALLY GOT TO FINISH MY COLLEGE EDUCATION, THAT I STARTED AT AGE 18, WHEN I WAS 58. BUT BY GOLLY I FINALLY DID IT.

I PROMISED MY MOM AND DAD I'D FINISH, LATER. MY DAD DIDN'T GET TO SEE IT BUT MY MOMMA DID. SHE WAS SO PROUD.

Woot! gratz ICH!

Telecomm isnt a bad field, but check this out.

Rocky made a good suggestion as well, maybe check into AF in telecomm based MOS's, and/or computers, do your hitch, then collage and home, or soemtimes you can get that where they pay for you to do your collage, (not rotc thouh that can work too,) then when done do your tour, and head home with a collage degree, _and_ field experience in your chosen field.

just something to think on.

ICH

THERE ARE WORDS OF WISDOM IN GUMPOKC AND ROCKY'S POSTS. AS A VET YOU COULD GET PREFERENCE POINTS ON A GOVERNMEMT JOB. PETERSON AND CHEYENNE MOUNTAIN COME TO MIND. I KNOW BOTH HAVE TONS OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS.

I DON'T KNOW IF THEY STILL DO IT BUT CHEYENNE MOUNTAIN USED TO ALLOW VISITORS. IT IS REALLY IMPRESSIVE THERE, BELIEVE ME. I BELIEVE THE VISITS ARE ARRANGED THROUGH PETERSON.

CHECK IT OUT. YOU WON'T BE SORRY. :D

I was kidding a little bit, Billy. My life has been fuller than most people's.

There are still a few things I hanker to accomplish. Some of them I'll manage and some I won't. And I'm pretty sure I'll procrastinate a few of them into eternity.

We all do. We never run out of empty lines on life's "To-Do" list.
