Thinking on getting my wife a 270 shortmag any advantage or dissadvantage over her 3006. I hand load so bullets will not be a problem.She will be using it on anything from antelope to elk and moose>

no disadvantage or advantage to speak of.

the 3006 will be far more fleixible with elk in the equation than the 270wsm. and since you relod recoil is not a consideration for your wife.

just think of the 270wsm as 270win, they are nearly identical blaisticaly.
