I am doing pretty good, I have never smoked in the house so staying away from the computer was only because I couldnt sit in this position very long.....not to mention the medication was keeping me more on spell check than anything else....I honestly figured I would be back at the pub by now, but this is one tough surgery.....feel good one day and in bed all day the next....thanks for thinkin of me....sorry I havent kept in better touch....but the doctor said I am doing well and healing great...so I should be stronger than ever this alligator harvest in Sept.....I timed it this way.....even though we bought the winch...those record gators are heavy and my insides probably wouldnt of handled it very good..its hell being a girl........love all of you.....

We all love ya, Val. Just get better - as slowly as you need.
Gators have been around a while. They'll be there when you're ready for 'em.
Heck, it's no fun being a guy with a hernia, either. Took me months to get back into high gear after that, so I understand.

HOLY SMOKE LADY WHAT DID YOU HAVE DONE? YOU SAID YOU WERE GOING TO QUIT SMOKING THEN YOU JUST DISAPPEAR AND NOW WE FIND OUT ABOUT THE SURGERY.
SHEEESH. I AM AMAZED. IF YOU HAD DONE WHAT I THINK YOU HAD DONE YOU HAVE A LOT OF TRAUMA.
DO WHAT YA FEEL LIKE DOING AND DON'T PUSH YOURSELF. I'M BAD ABOUT THAT, I NEVER FOLLOW DOCTORS ORDERS. PART OF MY HERITAGE, DON'T EVER TELL ME I CAN'T DO SOMETHING. I'LL BUST MY BACKSIDE TO PROVE I CAN.
TAKE IT EASY KID AND KEEP IN TOUCH. YOU'RE A KEEPER.
YOUR IN OUR PRAYERS.

Don't try to do too much, too soon. It takes a while to get over major surgery. My experience was that it took several weeks to function normally, and longer to feel good again.
We hope everything turns out right for you, and that your recovery is speedy.

Hello Val,
No mea culpas necessary. We understand these things are not exactly a walk in the park. There's no great hurry involved. Recuperate at your leisure. Best wishes.

Hey Val, You just worry about taking care of you for now, us and the gators will still be around after you get to feeling better. Although you are sorely missed by many of us we all understand about these things and we know they can't be helped. I too will be going in for surgery come Tuesday and it too was planned to coincide with getting better before the hunting season. Just follow Doc's order and you should be in the pink before season rolls aroung. Take care of your self my friend. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

HEY LADY
GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU AGAIN. BEING RESTRICTED TO THE HOUSE IS A BUMMER. I HAD TWO BACK SURGERIES IN THE LAST 3 YEARS.
I AM SURE YOU HAVE A THERAPIST BY NOW THAT HAS TOLD YOU HOW TO STRENGTHEN YOU MUSCLES AND GET BACK INTO SHAPE. THEY REALLY DO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. JUST DON'T BE A SMARTY PANTS AND TRY TO OVERDO IT.
AS SOON AS I'M DONE HERE I'M HEADED FOR THE LAKE, OR WHATS LEFT OF IT. RIGHT NOW IT'S DOWN SOME 30 FEET FROM IT'S NORMAL LEVEL. THIS ISN'T YOUR AVERAGE RUN OF THE MILL LAKE EITHER. IT MEASURES SOME 200 MILES LONG AND NORMALLY HAS 2000 MILES OF SHORELINE.
I SURE LIKE MY NEW DOG. HE IS A BLAST. THIS IS OUR FIRST FISHING TRIP SO WE WILL BOTH BE LEARNING. JUST IN CASE, I BOUGHT HIM A LIFE VEST. YES I HAVE SEEN RETRIEVERS AND HUNTING DOGS JUMP INTO THE WATER AND SINK LIKE A ROCK. NOT A PRETTY SIGHT. O9F COURSE THEY ARE USUALLY THE ONE THAT CAN'T FIND A SOUP BONE IN THE BOTTOM OF A GARBAGE CAN ALSO. GET MY DRIFT? I DON'T LIKE TO TAKE CHANCES ANYMORE.
HAVE A GOOD ONE LADY, TALK LATER.

Thanks Billy, what are you fishin for? Sounds like a nice lake to me...200 miles of shoreline....heck my streets look like shoreline now with Arlene kickin up a fuss...couldnt believe the rain here...8X56MS.....you got the brunt of it too, I imagine....where in Miami are you? I was waitin to get in the airboat and go to the store the last couple of days......just what I love mornin coffee and mosquitoes.....this isnt gonna be pretty until all dries up...hope all is well....mangos are fallin off the tree...so I am peelin them and addin a little vanilla ice cream...ya know to keep my strength up.....Val

Oh god. You had to remind me: one of the finest things on earth is homemade mango ice cream. Twenty years since my last taste, and the memory of it STILL floods every tastebud in my head.
Geez, Val, now TWO of us are sick!

Rocky,
We have mango smoothies and ice cream often here at Casa Mannlicher. :)
Guava is not bad either.
One cup heavy cream
One cup half and half
3/4 cup sugar
tsp vanilla
one cup fresh pureed guava
mix well, and put in your favorite icecream maker...... golly its good
And Valigator, I am just off the FTP, down around Bird Road.

VAL, VAL
WHO DO YOU THINK YOUR PLAYING WITH HERE. YOU CAN'T FOOL OLD GRAMPS.
EATING VANILA ICE CREAM AND MANGOES TO KEEP YOUR STRENGTH UP? AS STOSSEL WOULD SAY "GIVE ME A BRAKE." THATS THE WORST PIECE OF PSYCHOBABBLE I'VE HEARD SINCE MY KIDS LEFT HOME. :D
WENT FISHING FOR WHAT EVER I COULD CATCH. PRIMARILY WALLEYE AND NORTHERN PIKE. THEY DIDN'T WANT TO COOPERATE SO I ENDED UP WITH SOME CRAPPIE. THATS WHAT I HAD FOR SUPER LAST NIGHT.
MY SUSPICIONS ABOUT THE DOG WERE CONFIRMED. YOU EVER SEE A DEUTCH DRAHT HAAR TRY TO RETRIEVE A RAPALA COUNT DOWN LURE? WHAT A CIRCUS. SOON AS I THREW IT IN THE WATER HE WAS OUT OF THE BOAT LIKE A SHOT. HE WAS OUT THERE IN NO TIME AT ALL TRYING TO FIND THAT LURE IN THE PLACE HE THOUGHT IT SHOULD BE. I BROUGHT THE LURE BACK TO THE BOAT AND HELD IT ABOVE THE WATER AND HE GOT THIS REALLY IRRITATED LOOK ON HIS FACE. HE WAS TORQUED. FOUND OUT HE DOESN'T NEED A LIFE VEST. WHEN HE WENT OUT TO GET THE LURE HE WAS SWIMMING FAST ENOUGH TO MAKE ESTHER WILLIAMS LOOK LIKE A SLACKER. FROM THEN ON I LEASHED HIM IN THE BOAT SO HE COULDN'T GET OUT. THEN HE WAS UPSET AND HE'D SIT THERE AND CRY. HE REALLY LIKED THE SHORE LUNCH CRAPPIE THOUGH, SO I GUESS HE'S MY BUD AGAIN. WHEN WE GOT BACK TO SHORE IT STARTED TO RAIN, SO I GOT TO SLEEP IN THE CAMPER WITH A WET DOG, HOW NICE.
HEY LADY THAT SHORE LINE FOR THE LAKE IS 2000 MILES, NOT 200.
8X56MS
THAT IS A LOW CAL TREAT, RIGHT?

Val,
Take care of yourself and get well soon. Mango Ice Cream is a neccessary psychological component for healing and must be ingested after surgery until the craving subsides.:D ;)

Val you do what ever it takes to build up your strength. If you have to have 2 or 3 of them mango treats a day, then by all means, you have my permission. Take care of your self and get well soon my friend.
