I was flippin through the VA dept Game & Fish website..and this year crossbows can be used by all hunters on big & small game. The best part, is that you can use it from the openin of bow season till the end of gun season. (Oct-Jan)
It used to be only handicapped folks could use it. I werked real hard last yr werkin up the shoulder muscles fer my bow..and it hurt. My shoulders are ferever messed up due to all the framin I've done over the past 12 years..so this is gonna be great!
Now I just gotta find me a good crossbow..man I'm excited.

Cool. I just heard that Tennessee did the same thing. I guess that I've been used to it here in Ohio, so I kinda expected it was the same at least a few other places. Boy did I find out different.

In Texas you can hunt during gun season with a crossbow now, but can only use one during bow season if you are handicaped.
If they ever change it I will start buying a bow tag again.

A lot of these states are going the crossbow route because there is a ton of deer. Maryland has a crossbow season too. Thing is, I cannot remember if it is for two weeks, or for the entire bow season.
What I do know is that I went out and bought a crossbow as soon as I found out, sighted it in, and have yet to take it hunting. Haven't even been bow hunting in the last two years. That might change though because I think they just opened up a park by me for bow hunting this year and there are some huge deer in there.

My left elbow was injured when I was young, and its only geting worse. Ive been working out sense I moved down here afew months ago. I can draw a buddys bow with a 70lbs pull weight. But I can see where It wold be a literal pain to practice with that much weight.
A crossbow might be a better way to go for me. Rather than a compound that I was planing on geting someday. I know I can hog hunt with one in Florida, but Im not sure about anything else?
