just curious if anyone is running marine radios in their hunting rigs? all the bear hunters up here use them to communicate when they're in the middle of hell, lol. what are you using?

WELL...when you use radios, you want to be on what everyone else is on in your area...no matter what it is..right...? the marine units are 5 watts vhf, so the signal
will carry much farther than those dinky fmrs radios. however, ...is it somewhat..illegal to use them in that matter for land radio communications, as they are not certified by the fcc for that use, sooooooooooooooo.... be descrete, dont use them in town or city...unless you want to take a chance of paying whopper fine..when some annoyed ham operator complains to the local fcc office and they hunt down the guys using them... and they do hunt them down...read the fcc website on charged offenders section... you will see those guys dont kid around.

We use VHF's but not on the Marine Channel's. Like LDO said, its illegal to use Marine channel's on dry land and its not hard to figure out where they are coming from.
