My 452 CZ American 'hummer' is more like a "real" bolt rifle than most centerfire rifles I own. Exceptional trigger, great looks and accurate to a fault. The only problem is deciding if I take it or the 82 Kimber .22 for squirrel opener next w/end.

I use my .17HMR for coyote. I sell the pelts to a guy and he loves the fact of no damage due to the .17. I shoot the in the head with no problem - haven't lost one yet and they die where they stand.

I got mine several years ago when they first came out. I had great plans for it as a THE ULTIMATE SQUIRREL RIFLE!

NOT WORTH SQUAT ON SQUIRREL! Blows them up. Nothing left to eat. I don't eat squirrel, but my brother does. I feel that anyone that hunts should EITHER eat the game, or deliver the game to someone that does.

If I could hunt PD's every day, I would use it for PD. Mine is a tack driver with sub MOA groups (Savage 93 w/bull barrel). I would like to see some FMJ or trunciated flat point ammo for small game hunting.

They die instantly. As of yet I've never had the bullet (17gr) exit a hole pig. They just drop like lightning struck them....I guess it did :D Tree rats...their heads vaporize. GH, grayghost

I got my first exposure to one this week prairie dog shooting. I was very unimpressed.

I watched the guy that owned it shoot several dogs from 20-150 yards. Head shots were fine. Body shots, mostly crawled back into the hole, or at least ran a ways. Very few tipped over without moving. I shot a few with it. The thing that really opened my eyes was the last one I shot. 50 yards, the bullet splashed on the pds shoulder. Thats pretty weak.

I was of the opinion, to each his own. Thinking maybe the guys touting it for coyotes may be right with good shot placement. Also thought maybe it would be good for fox. After witnessing what I did with my own eyes, I wouldnt shoot a coyote with one on a bet. Totally irresponsible, IMO. They may be good longer range squirrel guns, but that would be about the extent of it. Maybe rabbits, rats and ground squirrels.

Now that I have seen for myself, I have no use for one. They are accurate, I will say that much.

With all due respect, you either take nothing but "chip shots" and show great patience, or you havent killed that many coyotes. Coyotes dont give that many opportunitys for head shots, even when called. Not without moving at the last instant and causing a jaw hit or worse.....

It used to be legal to hunt foxes at night in TN. Before deer poachers ruined it. Now we have to hunt only during daylight hours and with a mouth call. Point is, our main rifle was the Remington 5mm. One shot in the chest and "dead fox." No exit, no pelt damage. I haven't hunted dogz yet, but most likely I would move up to the 20 grain bullet. No problem for me with tree rats and hole hogs. They die real good. 10-4 on dogz. They're shy about anyone takin' their picture, especially if that long stick with the little hole it is sticking out from under the lens. But one of the guys at our local Bass Pro takes dogz on a regular basis with his 17hmr. Usually gets 1-2 every trip. Good hunting, grayghost

I dont know where you live GG, but you shoot my dogs and you got trouble. I was speaking of Prairie Dogs, Foxes and Coyotes. No dogs mentioned.
