Where would you Gator Getters be if it wasn't for Duct Tape?

Man....that's one big frikkin' Lizard, Val! I get all anxious when I encounter an 8" long Alligator Lizard in my garden and you Kooks are wrapping 10 footers in duct tape!

Do you shoot 'em first or what? Just what IS the procedure for capturing, hunting, trapping,....whatever it is you do to an alligator? Do you chum with small pets or children?

Yea thats what I told him about the tape...."you a little worried that big boy was gonna open his mouth?" or what?

Treedoc, harpoon or bow, bangstick and I had an electric wench put on last year....I get my biggest gators when its just the two of us...but we found that bringin in one of those bad boys took hours and almost killed us last year, ( the weight and all) so thats why the wench....

I could start using unhappy wives husbands for bait, there surely is a business for it...

I may have missed it in the past and forgive me if I did,but if that big monster is no longer among the breathing.....why tape his mouth?Sorry if this is a recurring question. But I am impressed,I would love to bow hunt one.

Niteowl -- you gotta tape them mouths shut otherwise after he went to the maker he'd be spittin' out all those unhappy wives husbands out . . .

Nice lookin' gator -- would love to tangle with them someday, just ain't livin' in the right part of the globe at the moment, Waidmannsheil, Dom.

Niteowl, most of the gators I get are still alive goin into the freezer....harpoon them, get them to boat, take both hands close their mouths, tape them...then kill them if you can.....:D :D

Great gator Val, and although he used enough duct tape to repair four Fords, I'd probably have used that much too. Congrats to the nephew. :D

It would appear from that last pic that Gator didn't fit it that little trash bag he's wearing. So much for Hefty's "Alligator Tough" advertising cliche.

As for Electric Wenches....I wasn't gonna say anything 'bout that... I think Rocky would ban me if I did!

Once again Val, nice lizzard you all brought back, and I'll say again, you got more balls than I do :)

NOt that i wouldnt midn tryign them sometime, but i look at it this way...

middleaged redneck clutz (emphasis on clutz)
airboat
large bodies of water
10 foot lizzards tryin to bite my butt

would probably make one hell of a blooper movie, If i survived the filming :)

I am curious....what do you think the price per foot will go for this year, after Katrina...

We sell at a co-op and somebody has been saying between it'll be 20-25 $. I think there is enough alligators havested in florida and west louisiana to satisfy the market. Just east of us a good bit of alligator farms were wiped out. So far i,ve caught 7 and my dads caught 5. Not bad considering you hardly could get around in the swamp with all the trees down.

I,m curious about something too. In a post a good while back you said that you killed gators with an ice pick how do you do that. When we have one on a line he is too ticked off to let us touch him we anything much less jab him we an ice pick. We use a 22 or a 22 magnum. Year before last we had a really big 11'6" that had eaten a 5 footer that was on the line. He gave the 22 a hard time we shot him 5 times.

I dont remember the ice pick quote, unless we were at the processors and he did it or maybe we used one to pierce his brain not sure about that one...seems most of the ones I get these days are still alive going into the freezer....I am past cleaning up all that blood at 9 am these days......we are not allowed to have firearms on the boat...we use a 38 or 45 calibur. bangstick...and for the really big boys its not unheard of hitting them more than once..
