Well...I bought me a new(to me) reloader at an auction the other day. It is a Dillon RL1050 and is set up to load 45 ACP(my favorite pistol rd). Never have used one of these..heck never even seen one. Thought it was gonna be complicated and all. Shoot guys, that thing loads slicker than cat doodoo. At the same auction I got all kinds of stuff for reloading. Bought 28 lbs of powder too(15 dollars for unopened cans that is). Got a couple of pounds of BLC-2 and 8 lbs of Win 231. Now I just have to find some loading data for the 5 lbs of Hodgdon HS-5. Think it is good for loading the 20 ga. Hey Rocky...got any old Hodgdon data books laying around? Will post a pic of the darn thing as soon as I get it bolted down to a bench...just clamped down right now. I love auctions!!

Dillon Presses are great. I have had a 650 for years. Warranty service is #1 and they don’t care if you are the original owner or not.
Remember any of that powder makes good fertilizer if you are unsure of what you really have, don’t ASSume, be safe.

Almost all this powder is unopened cans. I am very leery about opened cans of powder. I never assume it is what is supposed to be. Another auction tomorrow. Lot so f reloading items...and then a gun auction at night. Whoooeee. Maybe I can get sumthin good!!:D

Well of COURSE I have old reloading manuals. From Hodgdon Manual #23 (1977):
HS5 is an excellent spherical powder for 1- 1/4 oz field loads in 12 ga, 1 oz and 1-1/8 oz loads in the 16 ga and 7/8 and 1 oz loads in the 20 ga. It is also adaptable to mid-range pistol loads.
I have loads listed for 45 ACP and also some shotgun loads (if you can match the compinents, but that won't be easy).
One example in 45 ACP with 230 jacketed bullets is 6.4 - 6.8 grs for 760 to 812 fps.
You can also use any data you find for the old WW 473. It's EXACTLY the same as HS-5.

Well Duh!! You would think I would be able to remember the correlation with the Winchester powders etc Hs 5 -473...HS 6- 540, HS 7- 571,. H110-296 Good grief I am dense sometimes. oh...and HP38-231 Win..I happen to have 14 lbs of 231. I have also just picked up one of Rugers fine little 77 22 SS HB Hornet rifles. I want to be able to play around with this one a bit. Haven't messed with the hornet in quite a while. I wish Ruger would chamber the 77-22 in 218 Bee. What a caliberl!! Thanks Rocky. Jogging what little bit of memory I have left is a real chore
