OK, I was quiet. that part I deserved. But I rushed my shot and it hit her in the right side of the paunch, angling to exit through the left thigh. Transected the vena cava and aorta along the way, also messedup the left tenderloin. She didn't get sixty yards.

Part of the reason she died quickly was the penetration, and partly that was due to the bow, a Hoyt that shoots way faster than my Bear WhiteTail II used. to.

Every once in a great while, the hunting gods take pity on our lost sort and throw us a bone!:D Don't question it and enjoy those backstraps. I am sure that there were many hunts that were tough but didn't produce for the efforts exerted.

My uncle scored a nice doe last season, but really it was a terrible shot, along the lines of yours, steven. His arrow somehow wound up way back, and it hit her thigh. The arrow passed through. She took off, he waited an hour, found a good blood trail, and discovered her dead within 100 yards in a ravine, the femural arteries in BOTH legs completely severed. She bled to death fast.
