Casting Handgun Bullets.

Last Saturday was a perfect Indian Summer day here on the farm. I got out the old Coleman stove and put it on the picnic table in the front yard. I got out a half dozen favorite moulds and started casting about 9:00 A.M. By sundown, I had gone through 6 pots of #2 alloy and had a pile of .38/.357 and .45 caliber projectiles on establishment.

I quench all my cast bullets by dropping them from the moulds into a bucket of water a distance from the pot. My bullets are hard and are accurate. I have enough to supply my shooting needs over this Winter. Who else casts their own pistol bullets?

I do....I cast for .38 special, .357 mag, 9mm, .38 Super, and .44 magnum in handgun calibers, and .30/30 in rifle caliber. I also cast muzzleloading projectiles & shotgun slugs. I cast gas check bullets for the magnum calibers.

I to cast some bullets. I cast for the 38 special, the 9mm, the 45 APC, and in the rifle I cast 30 cal and 6mm with both the 30 and 6mm I use gas checks. I do have some reduced loads for the 30 that are just plinkers, but fun to shoot and cheap also. All shoot quite well and I do enjoy the shooting with two boys it makes it affordable to shoot and stay in practice. :D

I taught my nephew how to cast and over two Sundays, we cast 6 coffee cans of assorted bullets. They were .38/.357, 9mm, .44, .45 ACP and .45 Colt. I often shoot the .357 168 grain bullets in a .35 Remington and the .44 mag bullets in a .444 Marlin. All the best...

Nice to see some diehards as well....

I've cast bullets and have handloaded since I was 11yoa, and I'm now 48 and still going strong.
I cast for everything I shoot in handguns, as well as some rifle use.
Probably everything from 9mm rounds all the way up past .45LC bullets and such.
Over the long years of doing such, I've collected hundreds of moulds, and obsolete ones to boot.
I don't dip anymore, but that was the way I started. Right now I have three bottom pour pots and a ventillation system set up that I built when I designed my shop. It serves me real well.

I haven't bought jacket pistol bullets in years, and when I need some, I make them myself with jackets & core lead from C-H.
Not to blow my own horn, but I've made jacketed bullets that shot better than most factory ones.....not intentionally, they just did at a great surprise.

I cast 9mm, .38/.357, .44, .45 colt and .45 acp. A buddy gets me these lead blocks at work. They don't use them anymore. I got 2,000 rounds of .44 and .45 out of 1 block. Am thinking of getting into rifle bullets next.
