Super Black Eagle update

Good news and bad news.
My new SBE II is a hoot to shoot in the old duck blind. Bad news is, I was at my local gunsmiths and he has had 3 in with broken ejectors. He told me they were very hard to fix, not in those words he was a little more colorful. He did say it was a nice gun to test fire. Hope mine makes it threw the season.

I have shot thousands of rounds through mine and haven't had a problem with the ejector pin, knock on wood. Even if it did break, I doubt it would be that expensive of a part. Now, the time to fix it might be an entirely different matter.

Other hunters that I know that own and shoot their SBE's would rather trade in a cherished family member than give up their Benellis. They have a very loyal following.

At the end of the day, I have been using this gun for 8 years for hunting and I love it. Out of all the guns I have hunted with over the years, this one, by far, has more rounds through it and more days in the field because I rarely pick anything else up to shotgun hunt with.

I have been lucky enough to go to Argentina twice in the past three years. The outfitters I have been with only have one make of gun to rent, Benellis. If you ask them, about an auto to bring, you only bring two guns, a Benelli or a Beretta 391.

I had in my hands a Benelli that had over 700,000 rounds through it, at the LaPaloma lodge. The gun was given to me to examine, during a discussion with the owner about the best guns for high volume shooting. It functioned and looked very near to new.

I own several O/U guns, an A-5 and a couple of Beretta 391s. My next 12ga auto gun will be a flex stock Cordoba. Oh, the 391 is much more difficult to clean.

Cold weather and snow has us frozen off the river but I am still in hopes of some cornfield hunting.
At this point I will NEVER own another auto-loader. This SBE II is by far the finest waterfowl gun I've ever shot. I shot high speed 4's, BB's, BBB's, hevi shot. 1 3/8oz 2's, 1 1/8oz. 4's, 3inch, 3.5inch 2 3/4, and never, I mean never, had a mis-fire bobble, jam or any other gun problem you could think up. All other guns in our blind this year had something, sometimes minor, but non-theless a problem. Brownings, Remington, Berretta and Winchester. Only one that didn't was an old Marlin pump.
Cold wet snow, rain heat nothing stopped the SBE. I've been through 7 different surgeries through the years, both sholders have been repaired and recoil is a big deal to me. This gun shoots like a .410 I cannot applaud it's virtues enough.

Now you know why I have been talking so well about my SBE. This is the 8th season that I have used it, and while I don't have 700,000 rounds through it, I do have quite a few and I am really happy with the gun.

I will also agree that the SBE is a lot easier to clean than the Beretta 391, but I do love both of my Beretta 391 Teknys guns. If I were in the market for another sporting clays gun, I think I would seriously look at the Sport II and if I were in the market for a new dove gun, I would seriously look at the Cordoba. I just love the simplicity of the Benelli guns.
