I enrolled in a contest. It's called NaNoWriMo, which stands for National Novel Writing Month.

You have to write an original fictional novel of at least 50,000 words, starting no earlier than November 1, and finishing before November 30.

This says it all..

My sincere congratulations. As a frustrated novelist, I look forward to hearing all about this in greater detail.

It's called Baggy Zero Four, and it's a tale about a Forward Air Controler in Vietnam.

It's fictional, but it's also a lot like my real tour.

It's runs about 350K (or 170 pages), but if anyone's email supports that, I'd be happy to let y'all read it.

Toxic, I'd prefer you didn't leave it lying about. I'd hate to have somebody pick it up and submit is as his own.

That goes for all of you, OK?

Congratulations Rocky.

I'm digging back in my memory a ways, but wasn't there a non-fiction book about your tour of duty in the works for you ?

Happy for you on your award.

MT Pockets - Yup, there is. But it's a much longer process than I'd envisioned.

That book came out at 300,000 words, which everyone tells me is WAY too long for a first book. I'm trying to cut it down to half that, but trimming it is like selling off some of one's children.

I'm looking at publishing the fictional (and shorter) one myself. Stay tuned.

In fact, I'm thinking of it so strongly that I will honor no more requests for free copies after this post. (Under advice from a publishing company - to protect my copyright and publishing rights down the road.)

I guess I waited too long. Let know when it's published and where I can get my hands on a copy.

I know it's much more easily said than done, but have you considered dividing it into two books, the highly acclaimed first novel and the eagerly awaited sequel?

Whatever the outcome, I'll gladly pay coin of the realm for the final result. Just hope I can get an autographed copy.;)

Well, it's published!

I'll get my proof copy in a few weeks. If it looks good, I'll post the addy where you can buy it.

Also, I'll offer copies (autographed) myself.

I'll gladly purchase! Just a little thing I could do to show my gratitude.

Don't know much about that subject other than the books I've read. (Nails or Covey?) At the time I was sailing in circles out the Gulf of Tonkin on a carrier sending zoomies. (phantoms/corsairs/northrups etc) in.

If you've read Plaster's SOG or have it goto pages 322-323 Leslie works down the hall from me. Bronze star and all that. Can't remember the designation 0-one or something like that.

You guys are to be honored!!!

Rocky,
Just saw this post. Congratulations, a prize and publish on the first book. I would very much like to read your novel. Did not know you were old CCT, we most probably have met.
