I haven't even seen a galley proof yet, but the printer tells me that my book is now available for sale and immediate shipment!

If you can't wait for an autographed copy, go here:

www.lulu.com/rraab

There's a free excerpt you can read, too.

To keep the cost down, I elected to not make it available through Amazon (I was dismayed by what they charge as a sales commission!)

hey rocky

great job on the book. i read the one you posted and thoroughly enjoyed it. it's a great read.

a few snippets in there opened up some old wounds, but thats ok. i didn't expect it to be about barbie and ken.

by any chance were you stationed at an khe? some of the locations you described sounded pretty familiar. phu cat for sure. i was a member of the 612th tfs, the air force branch of the screaming eagles. we had four squadrons of lead sleds there.

you brought back all the memories of the "stench" and the red dust.

again it's a great read and i highly recommend it as mandatory reading material.

thanks for your efforts. how do i get an autographed copy?

thanks bud.

Thanks, Billy.

I was (in real life) stationed at LZ English in Binh Dinh Province which was on the coast just north of Qui Nhon - then at Ban Me Thuot over on the Cambodian border, south of pleiku and west of Nha Trang.

Phu Cat was south of English and east of BMT.

This fictional tale is descriptive of LZ English in many respects - including the shower.

Two ways to get an autographed copy: wait until I get a supply and buy it directly from me OR buy a copy now and send it to me. I'll send it back signed for just the cost of postage.

Folks, it looks I'll get a small batch of books about Dec 21.

I'll offer autographed copies to HuntChat members for $15, shipping included.

That's actually $2 LESS than the direct from the printer price, which means I lose money on the deal. So I won't do this forever.

I'll accept PayPal, money orders or checks. Make firm orders soon.

For toxic111 and all his fellow Canadookians...

The best postage rate I found was $7, so the book price for an autographed copy mailed to Canada is $17 (USD).

That works out to $19.68 CAD, if I'm correct.

The first box of books came in today!!!!

Aside from being the wrong size (they're 8.5x11") they look gorgeous. I've already corrected the print-size error, but I'll send out this first version as promised.

Autographed books will be in the mail tomorrow for those who've paid via PayPal. Others will go out as your checks arrive!

(Guys, it looks great! I'm very happy.)

Now that I've seen the 8.5x11" size, I think I'll start on that long-promised "Reloading 101" book!!

Rocky,
Read the book, major complaint, it is too short. I ran out of read before I was ready to be finished....:D Good job. I was waiting for someone to blow themselves up with that emersion heater. Mo-gas is bad enough, but Av-gas, well, it just had to happen, been there done that. The whole book brings back many memories.

As I am sure you know, there are quite a few old FACs around here, thrown in with a few Ravens, a few Jolly Greens and a couple of CCTs and a PJ or two for a little spice.

Between Hurlburt and Eglin, they seem to keep the area populated with retired spooks, Delta folks etc. The military living legends that you meet here is amazing, the names read like a who's who in national headlines. Hell, I went down to get a haircut and there we were, three of us in the shop, barber, me and Richard Secord.

Rocky,
I loved it! When can we expect to read more about Rusty Naille and his OV-10 assignment?

You truly did a fantastic job! I was captivated the entire time and could easily read more and more of this into the wee hours! You really projected the sensation of being there, in all aspects, but especially with Crazy Eddie. Without giving away the story to those who haven't yet read it, simply put, I felt it.

I hope this endeavor turns out to be a great success for you and just the beginning of many more great stories!

Rocky,

I just ran across this Forum and the mention of your new book as well. I did a few years in Phantoms way back when, but it was post Nam. A good friend from those days and former commander was a Raven FAC, Art Cornelius. Just wonder if you two may have crossed paths.

As a fairly successful self-published author, I would be happy to offer any insight that I have on the business if it would help. Feel free to email me at: jay@elkcamp.com

God bless

Jay, welcome to HuntChat - and thanks for your service, too.

I don't believe I've ever met Art, except at a FAC reunion. The name is familiar, though.

To all...I'm going to write that second volume of Rusty's adventures. The next one will be much longer.

I also have Reloading 101 in work (don't know which one I'll finish first) but I hope to have both of them in print by the end of the year.
