Sunshade???

I have a Simmons Whitetail Classic 3.5-12 x 40 mm scope on my Ruger 10/22, I would like to put a sunshade on it...where the heck can I get one?? Or do they make them, or can you just buy a generic one that screws on??

I'll use this scope till I can afford the Leupold that I want :D:D

Is the objective bell threaded for a sunshade? If not there is a company that makes a type of rubber shunshde that fits over the objective bell. I'll see if I can find the name. See 'em on ebay a bit

Wholesale Sports handles Simmons...they should be able to get you one. Just go in to the gun counter with your model number and get them to order it.:)

I kinda wanna see if anybody here would have a ballpark price?? Or maybe even an old one in good shape they want to part with....maybe trade for a good Ruger 10/22 factory barrel?? :D:D

Well I contacted Wholesale sports by email and they told me that all they carry is Leupold sunshades......

Are these interchangeable? Or do I NEED a Simmons sunshade???

And nobody knows where I can get one??

I'd be a little more forceful with Wholesales Sports....that is crap...they can order you one if their counter staff gets off their prat and does it. As is typical these days they just can't be bothered for such a small purchase.

As Toxic111 says your other option is to just go the Simmons website and e-mail them.

Can't tell you if the shades are interchangeable.......I wouldn't be surprised if they are......but Leupold probably could tell you.

Price....$30 to $40 for Leupold. depending on the model.

Cap, what size is your scope again.. the one i have for my simmons might work, and I never use it... but I do have the 42 Objective.

Mine is 40mm.....I am hoping somebody would have a bit of knowledge about whether they are inter-changeable......

though I dont think that they are...

And all I have done is email Wholesale.....I might make a personakl visit :D:D

I think mine is a 42mm.. so it prob won't work.. I will have to find it to be sure on size.. its under the stairs somewhere.. I think... lol

Well, went to Wholesale today and had a chat with some PFY* and he was unable to really help me much....we did try a shade from a Bushnell which was of course a total failure........

I also tried to contact Simmons today, but the only number I can find is a US toll free number that doesnt work in my area.......I am unable to find an email address.......

Ah well.......so what kind of new scope should I get for my Rifle??

My two choices I like so far are:

a) Bushnell Elite 4200 4-16 x 50mm(Or maybe the 4-16 x 40mm) for $629.95

or

b) Leupold VX-III 6.5-20 x 40mm for 889.95.


Mind ya I might change my mind totally by the time I can afford it :D:D
