extrema vs extrema2

Do you guys know the difference between the Beretta A391 Extrema and the Extrema2 ?
Do you think its worth paying $300.00 more for the extrema2 ?

Shot a friends Extrema 2 today at geese with 3 1/2 in hevi shot. No different felt recoil than my Extrema. ...and i ain't numb from the neck up either. Save your money and buy the cheaper gun. You won't feel the difference shooting game and the money can go for lots more shells to blow through the gun.:D Just my take on the whole thing. Benelli SBE II also. Save the bucks for bullets!!:D :eek:

Okay, to answer your question, the Extrema 2 has a recoil reduction system in it, as does the SBE II. However, they are different recoil reduction systems.

For Skeet, recoil might not mean much, but I know it does for me. My sporting clays gun and my SBE both have recoil reducers in them. I am 5' 9" and 150 lbs and have suffered some backaches in the morning from the SBE and 3 1/2" shells. That was until I put the recoil reducer in the buttstock.

If you are sensitive to recoil, I would pay the extra $300. Then again, I do not think the SBE II is that much more expensive than the SBE. You should really look at that gun compared to the Extrema. The SBE is much easier to clean and maintain.

Where are you buying these guns? If I saw that kind of price tag on the SBE II, I think I might just drop dead on the spot. The SBE II is a great gun, but it isn't that great. Try shopping around a little.

The extrema is on special at that price .

I'm pretty certain those are Prices in Dollars Canadian Fabs. The darn things are too high in dollars US too. Try to find a used Extrema or SBE Rene. I just saw a used SBE II yesterday for 900 US locally.

There are practically no 3 1/2 semis advertised in used guns around here, so the only choice is new.I am doing my homework to see which one I wil choose.so far i tend towards the extrema.

Sorry about that, I didn't even look to see your location was in Quebec. I guess I just assumed that the prices were in American dollars because of the dollar sign.

However, $500 Canadian won't buy as many shells as $500 American then. LOL

Hevi shot comes out to about $3.00 + a shell here, $500.00 will still buy me a bit. There is olso the option of buying the economy steel shell at $9.00 a box. Nothing falls but you should see how scared those geese are with all the noise we are making.This way we can shoot all day and dont have to go home early because we made our limit.

That post had me laughing pretty good. I cannot imagine the quality of waterfowl shell at $9 a box American, much less Canadian. They probably load them up with rocks or gravel.

No doubt about it, $500 is a good amount of money no matter how you slice it. However, out of my SBE I have probably shot several thousands of dollars of shells over the past 8 years. Lucky for me, most of my shells are reloads and they cost a decent amount less than the factory stuff.

Winchester xpert hs $8.94 Canadian box of 25.If the bird falls, its probably the noise that made it have a heart attack.
remington hevi-shot goes for $27.94 Canadian ( plus 15% tax ) per box of 10.
I buy the hevi-shot, its worth the price but I just can t wait for more competition on the market to bring the prices down.

I use the Hevi-Shot too. If it takes 3 shells of the crappy stuff to get a goose versus one shell of Hevi-Shot, it is a break even. Plus, it is always nice to have Hevi-Shot in the gun when the geese will not commit and you have to pass shoot them. Trying that with crappy steel is just like taking a $5 bill out of your pocket on the drive home and throwing it out the window, unless of course, you enjoy the noise and the smell of burnt gun powder.

As far as competition for Hevi-Shot, I believe a couple of ammo manufacturers are coming out with stuff. Winchester has a load out that is called Supreme Elite Extended Range Hi-Density Waterfowl and it is 55% heavier/denser than steel. Granted, not heavier than lead, but somewhere between lead and steel. The MSRP on a box of 100 is $42 for 3 1/2". I seriously doubt they will get that because it is way more expensive than Hevi.

Federal has something out called Ultra Shock that is 25% heavier than steel. Granted, this stuff costs $18 for a box of 10 12 ga. 3 1/2" shells.

Hunting, shooting, and fishing are expensive sports. That is what I keep trying to tell my wife.

Finally made up my mind, bought the Extrema black synthetic.I called the sports shop to see how long the special was going to be on, I was told it was the last one on stock.Still cost me $1472.00 with taxes ( CDN )Now I will have to take a morgage on the house to buy shells.

Isn't hunting fun. I already have a list of several thousands of dollars worth of equipment that I want to buy in the off season, just have to convince the wife that I NEED the closed cargo trailer, additional layout blinds, additional mojo goose, and additional decoys. Of course, a couple new rifles would be nice along with a duck boat, but I think that might be a little much unless I make a ton of money this year.
