i was out squirrel hunting yesterday morning and i had a coon come out at 8am at about 100 yards it was broad side so i aimed for the heart/lung area i shot and the coon started spinning and bitting at the wound so i shot again and it took off running but only gets about 10 yards and flopps on its side dead. i weighed ht ecoon and it weighed in at a whooping 39 lbs i thought this was a huge coon but i aint no coon hunter i just shoot them when i c them but i was really surprised at how the little bullet from the .17 performed on him. i was using hornady bullets with a saveage bolt action heavy barreled gun and a bushnell 4x12x40mm scope

i wonder what a coon was doing out during squirrel hunting hours. any how. that .17 is killing things i didnt think it was capable of, and yes i think that is a huge coon. fox and coyotes are also dying to the .17HMR

What are the hides bringing in your neck of the woods?

idk what the coons are bringing for prices here in wisconsin i always give my varmints to a buddies uncle who traps and all that stuff. once i get into trapping then ill have to find out but until then ill just kill it and give it to someone who wants to skin it then they can have the money.
