One of our neighbors is asking permission from the P&Z board to install a Skeet range near out house.

I have to admit ignorance here never having shot skeet so I need some answers. Soooo

1 How many Skeet shooters do we have on board?

2 What is your favorite shotgun?

3 How many rounds do you generally shoot in any given visit?

I got your e-mail bud and I just closed the poll. I hope that is what you were looking for if not let me know and we will try something different. I am also going to see if I can't place this thread in the games forum to get you some more replies.

To make those questions into a poll would be very time consuming. You would need a different poll for each question, and you would have to provide selections within each question. For example, if the question is which brand of shotgun do you like the best, you would have to provide selections such as Beretta, Krieghoff, Perazzi, SKB, Winchester, Remington, Ruger, Browning, and other.

Anyway, to answer your question, I shoot the following games, sporting clays, skeet, and trap, and in that order of preference.

When I go to the clays range, I usually bring at least 10 boxes of shells and it isn't uncommon for me to leave without any loaded shells. When I get home, I usually have more empty shells than what I left the house with (i.e., I find additional hulls at the range).

Regarding my favorite shotgun, it would be a Beretta and the specific model would waiver between the 391 Teknys auto and the 682 o/u.

Hope this helps you out, and if you have more questions, feel free to ask away.

I shoot skeet the most, I like sporting clays but have a mobility problem. One of my ranges has a 5 stand and I like it, my local club is a trap range.

Skeet 75%
Trap 15%
5 stand/sporting 10%

total shells a week: approx. 125 to 175min.

Browning O/U (skeet)
Bennelli SBE (hunting)
Berretta 20ga auto (skeet&hunting)

Where in Iowa???? I shoot in Colona, Il.(Quad Cities)

Count me in, I shoot at least weekly, harder in the winter w/shorter daylight hours, but will try and answer questions, though it varies. If they get that range up you'll definitely have to shoot !! Waidmannsheil, Dom.

Fav Shotguns: Beretta Citori o/u; Beretta 682E o/u

I take between 6-8 boxes of shells and sometimes that's cutting it close.

Trap: 60%
Skeet: 30%
Sporting Clays: 10% -- mostly because the nearest course is a 2 hour drive.

I shoot skeet about once a week, more in summer, none during bird season. I'm an "informal competitor" and never enter the club's regular competitive shoots.

Its a great way to become a better bird hunter, and I also enjoy the comeraderie of shooting with a friendly group.

You didn't ask, but we also shoot sporting clays from time to time.

Tell your friend to check out the "pollution factors" to his property before he starts up.....it needs to be a consideration...and could come back to bite him later on...

and yes I shoot at Markum Park here in Lauderdale every Tues night, but you wouldn't have given me two cents on how I shot this past week, we usually shoot two rounds and then go eat wings and drink beer. I bring the range master a sub sandwich and a drink, that way he doesn't punch my card everytime...I shoot my twenty gauge..

I like gold40 am an informal competitor although I have shot skeet when it is one of the disciplines of the shotgun triathlons that I enjoy entering more for the fun of competing in than to take so seriosly that it sucks the fun out of it. I love to shoot skeet, but then I also love sporting and trap as well. I grew up shooting trap and then later discovered sporting and fell head over heals crazy about it. Then started shooting skeet as well when it was added at the local club. Lots of fun and lots of great cammradderie with a lot of good folks.

My gun of choice if I'm serious is an SKB 585 in 12 guage, but if I'm just out funn'in around I tote a little Verona in 28 guage or a Browning Citori in 20 guage

Lots of fun!
