This stew gets better with age, start out with a batch of navy beans or a beef stew in a large crock pot or dutch oven. (This past year, at bow camp kept crock pot on low, each day add a can or two of something different) corn, geen beans, carrots, potatoes, mushrooms, left over roast, steak, brown beans, onions, peppers, etc. (any type veggies/and or meats) mighty good to come in cold and sit down to a bowl of hot, Mulligan stew

Man you are right about that and has been a few years since we did that at camp. Better then any fancy steak you can get and I Will be making some next season.

I love a good stew. I saw one ruined once, beet pickles don't belong in there.

That stew does sound awfully good. One of the great dishes that gets better as the day goes on.

I have to ask though, beet pickles? What's up with that?

pickled beets. Ya take a beet an pickle it. Not bad. little tangy most of the time. I prefere pickle quail eggs myself.

Anyway I would subtract the green beans and add a good bit o garlic, cumin, cayanne, and come chili powder. For a little extra heartyness you can dump a bottle of heavy red wine in it.

You the best of them stay on low for several days and as you remove you add. Had one a few years back that somebody dumped about a dozen sliced of applewood smoked bacon into it. . . . You talk about good.
