this the second year i have used the t/c omega, with great results anyone else?

I've had fairly good results with mine in .45 cal. I have yet to take a deer with it, but from the shooting I've done, it's got plenty of energy to take them a lot farther than I have any business shooting at them. At 400 yards, the bullets will completely flatten out and seperate the jacket and core against a steel gong. That's the Hornady XTP 40 cal 180 grain. Not bad for 100 grains of powder.;) :D

I have had great results with the Omega.........the first Omega .50 I got was the stainless/composite model. Shot two book black bear with it and a whitetail deer. My wife decided she liked that Omega, so I gave it to her and got a new .50 Omega SST.......the fluted stainless barrel/laminated thumbhole stock model. Not very traditional looking but it is real comfortable to shoot.

Both are accurate and easy to load and clean. Going to shoot another blackie with the SST this spring and then use it on moose in the fall.

got mine a while back and every time some one here gives me a chance to talk about it i must. shooting powerbelts at 100 yds i can cut 5 shot groups of 1.75 inches. first deer with it was about 165-175 yards out just another bullseye. still love it

Just gotta love my omega. 120 grains app 2fg and a 250gr shockwave or 300gr sst group rather impressively.

I had an Omega and I didnt like it. I couldn't get it to group though in all honesty I gave up before I even had 50 shots down the barrel and we all know these things don't settle down till you get 200 shots.

The ramrod tip broke off in less than three shots, just shattered right off. I didn't care for that, even though Thompson was very, very prompt at sending me a new ramrod, it was too frustrating, and the third time it happened I gave up on the rifle.

But Thompson stands behind their products and they stand firmly, and their customer service is second to none. The stories I could tell about how good they are...

The main gripe I have about ALL T/C muzzleloaders is that #@*! ramrod that comes with them. The first thing I did was put it in the back of the closet, and replace it with a fiberglass rod. I find the aluminum one to be noisy, easily damaged, and in general worthless. Other than that, I've got no complaints.

that ram rod!, damn, i am trying to keep my cool talking about it. it comes out of the guides sounding like a sword from its sheath. doesnt sound nice on the barrel and scrapes up the guides that they are now beginning to rust.. and to top it off now i cant find the fiberglass rods any where around here T.C has begun marketing what appears to be a hollow aluminum rods.
