Infant Lifetime Hunting License

Here in West Virginia , parents can buy an infant under 2 yrs. old lifetime hunting & fishing license for a one time only, $285.00, as long as infant hasn't reached his/her 2nd birthday. Parents or guardians only can apply ( This grand pap is planning on getting a money order, then having son sign & and mail permit application into Dept. Natural Resources W.V.)
I thought it would be a great gift for granddaughter, also in years to come, she would know her grand pap really love her alot & cared that she would love to hunt and fish without all the hassel of license buying each year.

It is almost a win/win situation. Kids have the ability to hunt the rest of their life without ever having to worry about getting a hunting license and the Department of Natural Resources makes additional money. However, there is a downside on both sides. For you, the child might not like to hunt at all. For the Department of Natural Resources, too many of these licenses might be sold and the future income stream from the sales of licenses might drop off. Kind of like pre-paid tuition. A lot of states are not allowing people to pre-pay for their children's tuition because the states got screwed by the rising cost of education. Now, they only let parents put money away in a 429 savings plan to be used for the payment of college at a later date.

I broke down an bought my granddaughter her lifetime hunting & fishing license, the other day. I think she will hunt and fish, because she's will not be 2 until Sept. 2006 and she already watches the outdoor channels and enjoys it with her Dad and Pappy, besides even for some remote reason she doesn't want to hunt or fish, the State will have their money and grandpap in his younger days blew that amount on something that didn't amount to anything anyway, so it's a win/win situation for grandpap

Guess what, they returned my bank draft of 285.00 with a note saying by the way as of May 11, 2006, the infant lifetime license has increased to $380.00 so I got another bank draft of $95.00 and mailed it back.
I figured if I didn't get it now, the way hunting & fishing license keeps increasing, she won't be able to afford it later, or it will be such a turn off (price of license) to her, that she wouldn't want to hunt or fish.
