The Bush administration is pushing a plan to SELL 300,000 acres of National Forest Land. Here in Colorado 20,000 acres will be sold. Numerous hunting and fishing groups here have come out against the plan including the Colorado State Muzzleloaders Association and many chapters of T.U. Land where as hunters and fishermen we now enjoy will be forever loss to private owners and developers. I am urging all to contact your senators to express you opposition to the bill.

Same old deal for the Sportsmen: Democrats lock it up and the Republicans sell it off .
There are links to voice objections to this sale on the website for the Rocky Mountain Bighorn Society. www.bighornsheep.org

I have heard two different reasons for the selling of this land.
A) To have federal funds for natural disasters such as Katrina. Where the land owners do not have any insurance incase of natural disaster and want the federal government to pay for thier repairs and housing. Since it is the governments fault in not preventing or getting them out of the area.
B) For rural schools to be upgraded. This is mostly in Washington and Oregon region according to what I heard.
I think I would call the second pork barrel and I think that the first should be done in low interest loans that should be paid back. They are selling land here in Indiana for this too.
