Nice looking dog. What is the "clothing" on him and what is it for?
The last time I saw a chain like that in the presence of a dog was when I went to deliver a personal injury check to a young boy for a dog bite. From the file, I knew his parents' dog, Zeus, and the neighbor's dog got into a fight on his parents' property (i.e., the neighbor's dog was loose), and the neighbor's dog ended up biting his hand. As I was walking up to the front door, I thought I had met Zeus, a little puppy Mastif. Nope, that wasn't Zeus, that was Zeus' son. Turns out that the pup's mother was in the house. Well, not too worried about the puppy, I started walking up to the front door. That is when I met Zeus and I thank God that the chain held. He came from around the back of the house and I was truly scared. I knew I couldn't make it back to the car in time, so I waited for the encounter. Then he hit the end of the chain. The puppy, all of 50 lbs started barking at me at that time too. So, I went back to the car and beeped the horn. The kid's father came out and told me it was fine. Once inside, I found out that Zeus' chain was tied to an oak out back and that he had broken the chain a couple of times. Based upon the size of the dog, I was surprised that he hadn't pulled the tree out of the ground. I was also suprised that this 8 year old kid survived trying to break up the dog fight and that the neighbor's dog actually lived through it. Obviously, I politely asked the kid's father to walk with me to my car. That was a scary day.

if it was my dog and he's messin' with hogs i'd be thinking real hard about kevlar.
i think i'd rather take on cape buffalo than a hog. those critters are the capital of meeeeeeeean.

Billy D,
I figured it was something like a bullet proof vest, but that much kevlar might slow a dog down a good deal.
Okla...,
Have you ever lost a dog to a hog? I almost lost my dog last year in a frozen pond when the ice broke on him, but it just took some getting wet and freezing on my part to get him back. I probably wouldn't be able to deal with my dog bleeding to death in front of me. I had one dog get shocked on an electric cattle fence, on his gums no less (i.e., he just had to stick his nose where it didn't belong). He went into convulsions and I thought he was going to die. Man, was I praying at that moment. Anyway, when he finally came out of it, he was pissed as hell and looking for the thing that did that to him. The rest of the day, he listened real well to every command I gave him, because 1/2 a second before he got shocked I had screamed NO, BUNKER.
Dogs are always good for some excitement.

fabsroman, its called a cut vest and the big collar is called a cut collar.when are bay dogs get the hog bayed up, i walk him in close and turn him loose and he will go in and catch the hog by the ear.then i go in and stick him with a knife or hobble him to bring home alive.the vest and collar keeps him from getting cut up.sometimes he can get cut or killed even if he is wearing the kevlar vest.and yes ever once in a while u will loose a dog.
Nulle he is a full blood pit but he is not mean to other dogs or people but he hates hogs, this is the type of hogs we catch

Thanks for the info.
By the way, I guess he does hate hogs. Personally, I would hate anything that is trying to cut and kill me.

Kenny, I'm a northwoods grouse, pheasant, and rabbit hunter, but hog hunting looks like a blast. I've got to think they're pretty good eating too.
