Anyone try the conversion kit to change the 700 from a #11 cap to a 209? Love my 700 but when it gets near 0* she'll hang fire a bit.

The boys and I have a total of 4 700ml's all of them using the 209 kits. In my opinion they are well worth the money but be sure to NOT get the Remington conversion the nipple is rather thin walled and I have had them break after a year or 2. The kits that Cabelas sell have a much heavier nipple. Both kits are about the same money. Oh, and good luck finding a replacement nipple for the Remington if you ever need one. One other suggestion, never use oil on the bolt, Remington Dry Lube is the way to go.

Thanks indyhntr. The one I came across is from Cabela's, probably order one tonight.

A hunting companion of mine has a rem 700 muzzy. I personally witnessed several misfires while hunting, and didn't witness one that cost him a huge 10 point. He installed a 209 ingnition system, no more misfires.

Although I no longer use mine the 209 kit was well worth the price and easy to install. Get one...you'll not have any misfires with the 209...as long as you keep it reasonably clean. The reason I don't shoot mine any longer is because I moved on to a Savage Muzzleloader shooting smokeless powder. Yeeeehaaaa...no more cleaning. Will be selling the Remington and a T-C Hawken after I finish moving
