I have a ? about how to make snares

Hey i need help on how to make snares i need to know how to cut 1/16 cable without it friling out on the end adn how to install surelocks thanks.

well i tape mine so they dont get unraveled, ive never used one of those sure loks but if u order by phone ask for directions

They make a special cutter for cable but I use fence pliers.
You have to be careful or it will still unravel.
I'll have to look up surelocks myself . never used them.

Fwiw I don't use 1/16 cable much. Although I do use it sometimes.
The reason is you will have more pelt damage and it also doesn't support itself.
Whereas 3/32 aka aircraft cable will hold a loop quite well. The 1/16 moves in the wind easier than3/32.

PS I have to take back my above comment. I sure have used surelock snarelocks before. Must be old age. Forgot their name.
FWIW I make my own locks.
They are like the locks under the pix of surelock.

There is lots of information on the net about snares. I was surprised at how much.
I just typed snare cable in my search engine.
Also try snare wire.

Check out the snareing books sold in outdoor magazines such as Fur Fish and Game. Avoid the old time books like Hardings books. Some of the methods are questionable.
