Tankless water heaters

my water heater finally died at the rental...I was curious if anyone knew and had experience with the tankless ones? Someone told me they probably take more amperage, thus needing an electrician....anyone know about these things?

It would be a good idea to have an electrician look at it reguardless of what kind you get, howsomeever that being said, I hear the tankless ones are pretty good.

Val, when they built our offices, they put tankless water heater in the restrooms and kitchen.

The gas ones don't need much amperage at all. Still, it's a tankless job.

Thanks for the link and info..I went to the link...and typed in my zip for dealers, the first one that came up was Doc's plumbing, we sold them their building a couple of years ago...so my guy is going by there now...they will even install...thanks again guys...

Ive installed several over the years. The gas is much more efficient than the electric. but beware if you are used to plenty of hot water these tend not to deliver due to flow being constricted in the unit in order to bring the water up to optimum temperature when demanded. Most of the ones my company installs is in tenant space of office buildings where they only serve kitchen sinks and hand sinks. For this they work great. Val- If you have natural gas take a look at the power vent water heaters. They even condense the fumes and use as fuel and are super efficient. One 40 gal will give you more hot water, quicker and more efficiently than an 80 gal electric.

years and years ago I remodeled the kitchen and changed over from gas to electric...I know I know....but maybe I'll see if we can still access the gas....the rental is small a 2/1, but has washer/dryer ..dishwasher ...I am lettting my son move in...and if memory serves me his showers were no quick thing....

ahhhhh and the tankless saga continues...seems my house would be too costly to increase the needed amperage and I would need more than one...so the guys went to home depot bought a tank and are installing it as we speak.....

I have a power vented gas water heater and it's great!.. About twice the price as a vented heater, but it sure was nice installing. A peice of 4" PVC out the wall and you're done. I got a 50 gallon since my showers tend to be a little long :D

I'd reccommend one of those to anyone.
