Reloading WSSM's....

How are these to reload. Are there issues with them that you do not normally encounter with standard cartridges?

I haven't loaded for any of them, but I'm told that the WSSM cases are very thick. That would seem to indicate extra heavy forces in sizing and expanding the neck, so proper lube is vital.

It also might mean shorter case life, as normal work hardening could result in cracking a bit earlier with thicker necks. That's just a surmissal, though.

From what I read, they seem to work best at near-maximum pressures. Load workup is uninspiring until very near max for that gun.

I was looking at rifle in several small calibers, but last nite I ended buying a M-77 ruger in 257 Roberts. A lot of factors came into play: I already reload the Roberts, I have tons of brass and bullets for it, and I got the rifle at a great price.

I've always shot 120 grainers out of my previous Roberts, but I'm gonna try the 75 grainers on coyotes (I don't care about the pelts) and stay with the 100-120 for deer.

I put a lot of work into finding this rifle, and it's funny that with all the new stuff out there, I go back to an old favorite.

I have owned a 25 WSSM since they could be bought. I love it. Model 70 Featherweight, 75's about 3600, 85's about 3350, 120's about 2925. Loading is no real problem. You would need to FL size, and the cases don't seal until I would guess about 55PSI, now that is a real guess on my part I admit. Your rifle is as good a round I just like the short lightweight rifle that mine is.
