I purchased both a Leupold VX II and a Bushnell Elite 4200 this last year. The Leupold is on my 300 Win. The Bushnell is on my 223 Rem. I have to tell you, in spite of the "name" that Leupold has, I think I would perfer a Bushnell Elite 4200 for my next scope. Dont get me wrong they are both good scopes but the Bushnell seems to edge the Leupold in brightness and crispness to me.

What do you all think??? A Bushnell beating out a Leupold ??? Are there snowballs being made in Hell ???

you also pick up on moving targets much more easily.

I have a Leupold VX-II, and an Elite 3200, and I think they are too hard to choose between, I think the 4200 is up with the VX-III.

But the down side (for me) with Leupold is price, and with Bushnell is the eye relief. Couldn't have a 3200 on anything more than a .30-06

As stated, apples and oranges between the VX-II and the 4200. The 4200 is closer to the VX-III. I have a 4200 on a .223 Rem as well and I really like it. I still prefer the quality and warranty on the Leupold, even for more money. I've seen to many guys fight Bushnell on Warranty issues. Leupold is a no-brainer in that department.

I originally bought 2 B&L Elite 4000 4-16x50's for my varmint guns. Compared to the VX-III LR series Leupolds I have now, well there is no comparison. Not sure if Bushnell is making the Elite line any better.
I must say though, the 4200 2.5-10x40 Firefly seems like a good choice of magnification for my 222 to be used for chucks and predator hunting. Haven't looked thru one yet.

i had my 3200 elite on my 7mm rem mag for several years with no problem. that being said my 7mm was a ruger m77 with wood stock and is not a problem shooting. a magnum in a light stock with more felt recoil might be diff. but at 12x (my scope was a 4x12) i didn't have a problem. i now have a 4200 that i got a deal on that sits on the 7mm. and i agree with the others in that the 4200 is more in line with the vx-III, it stomps all over the vx-II.

I've got an Elite 4200 2.5-10X40 on top of my 7mmSTW. Got it from a guy on another forum for $200. Excellent glass and the Rainguard coating works great.

Leupold, with the exception of the VX-III, have poor optics and are very dark. At least to my eye. Can't argue with thier reliability, though.
