had to fish all day to fill our limit, but we got it. the next day we limited out in three hours, on smaller fish.
caught two crappies as well.

Glad to hear you're getting them on Thompson, glad to hear you're able to get out there with all the high winds on the weekends. That's pretty big water.

we got plenty wet at times.!!! the waves at certain times of the day were "oceanic" and that is no lie. but anyway it was fun.

i did release the 7.5 pounder. but the rest have been eaten, very tasty!

Gotta ask you Hofts.

How do you cook Walleyes, (or any other freshwater fish).

I've tried many, many ways but I haven't found one I like better than just coating them with some Fry Magic and frying them quickly in the hottest oil (or butter) you can get without burning. I use a coleman stove & cast iron pan outside so I don't smoke up the house. Key is to get the oil hot before you put the fish in. I like to keep the fillets whole, but will cut the larger ones in half. Fry skin side down first to prevent curling.

On the side: Bread, Beans and your favorite cold one.

pretty much exactly the same way you described. occassionally i just put them in tin-foil, with butter and lemon juice, lemon pepper and grill for a few minutes for something different.

we usually fry up some appetizers, by cubing the filets, dipping them in "shore lunch" beer batter, and deep frying.

i usually only catch walleyes, crappie, and perch. luckily all three of them are the best eating fish on the planet...............well in my book anyway! he he.

i also hooked an 8 pound northern that day, but i always let them go, as i do not care to eat them. although i have had some good pickled pike.
