I just learned that the local gunshop will no longer carry Goex or Elephant BP due to insurance rates and town ordnance. The shop will carry Pyrodex and other substitutes.
There is one shop about 15 miles away in a nearby village that still has Goex for sale. My only other source of BP in this county is the annual "Ronneyvoo" at the club in Cherry Flats where suttlers have BP for sale. I will stock up there annually.
Anyone else haveing problems finding BP. Also, what does a pound of 2F or 3F Goex go for in your area? I paid $12 per pound at my last purchase.

I buy my Goex by the case from a Goex distributor...$10.25/lb delivered to my front porch...and they mix the case however I want it...ie:
1 can 4F
20 cans 3F
4 cans 2F

Real BP was always difficult for me to find around here in S.E. Michigan.....as Adam stated, too many rules/regulations re: the storage of the stuff. Fortunately from me, there is a traditional BP shop in Port Huron (about 50 miles away) that carries it.....A bit of a drive, but I stock up when I need to and unfortunately don't get the opportunity to shoot as often as I would like!:(
Roundball....how do you get it delivered to your door? I thought that you had to have a special license in order to get that much powder in one delivery! (or maybe it's just a MI thing?)
As far as prices go, I think I paid $13/lb a year ago for a pound of FFg.....

Per Federal BATF regs, you're allowed to have and store up to 50lbs in a single family dwelling without any special permit or storage requirements.....even the Patriot Act didn't change anything regarding the recreational use of BP.
Note: I think a couple of states like NY and NJ have imposed their own additional laws limiting the amount to 5lbs or something...each state's "Fire Marshall's Office" is the official contact point about it.

Over time, I've bought 4 cases using J&JPyrotechnic in Moscow, PA.

Only one shop in the area still has blackpowder. I used to pay $12.00 a pound for FFG and FFFFG. The current price is $15.00. Mostly it is the threat of much higher insurance costs if BP is on site that has caused local shops to quit selling it. All the best...

What local gun shop in the Mansfield area is no longer carrying BP? Always like to keep an updated list so I know where to go for BP>

Tioga Flinter,
Cooper's Gun Shop on West Wellsboro Street right near the traffic light had NO Black Powder. Walmart in Mansfield has never carried BP, only Pyrodex and such like. Fay's in Tioga did have BP last time I checked, but that is no guarantee they still carry BP.

I order mine from Graf & Sons. Use to could buy it at several places here in town. No gun shops left anymore though. Only other place that sells it is a pawn shop. I won't do business with the man. A quote of his "all blackpowder is the same" kinda ruined me of that place. Besides...I can get it cheaper from Grafs even with the hazmat cost tacked on.
